Is It Worth The Climb?
Posted on September 11, 2011 12:00AM

The boys had beer while we girls had sausages...for lunch. Seriously. The small outdoor cafe had tables facing a mural of a European map. They had Filipino and German dishes on the menu--pricey, but relatively okay. We were looking for a place that served the best of Coron. I guess we had to ask the locals for that.
When you visit Coron, your resort/hotel will bombard you with tour packages. But if you're like us who yearn for the high you get from independent adventure, it's fairly easy to plan ahead while you're still in Manila and negotiate your own itinerary like we did. Actually, it was Logan who did all the research. So instead of availing of a tour package, we hired a tricycle to drive us around town. First stop was Mt. Tapyas, the highest peak in Coron. -
Stripped Naked Of Modern Conveniences

The van dropped us off a little before 3PM in KokosNuss Garden Resort & Restaurant, located just along the main road. We had our welcome drinks and a late, late lunch with another power couple.
Arya and Mel belong to the group of friends who know us well as a couple. They're Logan's officemates from his old "Happy People" office who became our close friends. They recently got engaged, and in so many ways, they're like our jet-setting version because, as couples, we enjoy the same things like traveling and wedding expos (yes, we do that, so in case Logan and I get engaged, we can always pull that off! Har har.) -
Couples' Retreat: We Have Arrived
Posted on September 9, 2011 12:00AM

Our flight went smoothly and we had a great view of the amazing islands awaiting us in Coron, Palawan. We arrived at the Busuanga Airport a little past noon. It was so hot there in the afternoon.
The airport was very small, but it was well ventilated and suited for the many foreigners who visit the small town. Arya and Mel arrived two hours earlier and were waiting for us at KokosNuss Garden Resort and Restaurant where we had reservations. Outside the airport, we looked for the Starex van that would take us to the resort. -
Freelance Vs. Corporate Chick
Posted on September 5, 2011 12:00AM

We left the house some time past 6AM when the traffic along Katipunan Avenue was still bearable. We really wanted to leave early so we wouldn't get stressed out on our first long vacation as a couple. -
Dealing With Excess Baggage
Posted on September 4, 2011 12:00AM

Logan has always been a man with a mission, and that mission always involved planning a detailed itinerary every single day. Yes, even if it's just an ordinary working day at his sosyal concrete jungle in McKinley, he's never without an itinerary. His girlfriend, however, breezes through the day with loose reigns.
We were going to Coron with another couple, Mel and Arya, but Logan was in charge of making our lodge reservations. I didn't have to do anything except stuff everything I wanted to bring into a large duffel bag.
"'Wag kang magdadala ng maleta, ha," Logan said weeks before. "Wala tayong check-in luggage."
"Bakit?!" I moaned.
