Meet Jai--My Very Bold, Very Loud, And Very Gay New Friend
Posted on March 8, 2010 12:00AM
A whole week passed. Sam bought me another shoe rack. As more weeks passed, mornings with Sam became a routine.
It must be fun to have your own business. You don’t have to wake up early to clock in, and you can stay as late as you want without bothering to clock out. On most days, Sam would sleep in up to 9AM, so I had to cook breakfast for two (which was usually made up of fried eggs, bacon/meatloaf/sausage, and toast). But most of the time, I just gulp down a mug of coffee, grab a bagel, and go without waking him up.
My new job turned out to be challenging. I feel the familiar rush of the new conquest and the foreplay-like build up whenever a copy is approved and sent to production. And every time I see my work up there in billboards/commercials/print ads, I experience a massive intellectual orgasm. Yes, no kidding! -
New Work, New Friends, Same Questions

It was Franco who told me about the opening in this big advertising agency where he worked as a graphic designer. And it was Franco whom I found standing in the spacious lobby and working his PSP to death while waiting for me that Monday morning.
When I met Franco at an event two years ago, I thought he was your average “laking Stateside” Pinoy. Regardless of the simple shirt and jeans get up, he looked like the type of guy who scores baskets during the day and scores with the ladies during the night. Franco and I shared the same penchant for RPGs (Role Playing Games in Play Station) and musicals (Avenue Q), and we soon became friends. -
Hello, Goodbye

If the only thing constant in life is change, then I look to the coming year with both fear and excitement. I’ve never been a big fan of change. Its unexpectedness is always unsettling, and it takes me a while to wrap my head around the idea of adjusting to new ways. Last month's issue on Fabulous Firsts has made me realize even more that change will always happen, and we need to embrace it, if only for the simple reason that it makes life more interesting.
