Nicia's Karma Part 1
Posted on March 16, 2012 12:00AM

Nicia sat across from me and asked for my help in tracking down Ken. She filled me in on all her attempts to contact him from New Zealand through Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo! Mail, G-Mail, and Skype. But the guy got smarter: He blocked her, then changed all the passwords to his accounts.
She sat there, spewing every bit of pain she had been feeling over the past few months. She told me I'm the only one who can help track him down. She sat there--totally sad, lost, and defeated--and told me that she had been staying in a budget hotel in the past few days since she arrived because she was too scared to go home and face her parents. -
To Believe Or Not To Believe

The movie was a tearjerker, thank God, and did a good job of hiding the real reason my mascara was all over my cheeks. Aldrich was caught between chivalry and college-dude hormones, so I decided to fake it and told a white lie of meeting old girl friends for coffee. Of course, Aldrich and Matt knew better. Well, the latter, I wasn’t so sure.
A few days passed after that Friday night in Glorietta. Matt went M.I.A. (missing in action) again. It was Wednesday when he finally surfaced with a text message rehashing the many headaches he has at work. Amazing, huh? It was as if he didn’t just deny our, umm, whatever it was between us.

A Cold Knife Slashing My Back

“So, are you two together?”
We still had a few minutes for cocktails before the movie started. Sir Tan, Matt, Aldrich, and I were sipping lukewarm iced tea in wine glasses.
“You didn’t tell me you hooked up with Veronica, ha Aldrich!” Sir Tan nudged Aldrich in the ribs that my friend let out a silent “ugh.”
“Sir, hindi ako,” Aldrich said, massaging his ribs. “Veronica is with Matt.”

The Heartbroken Girl
Posted on October 23, 2009 12:00AM

Breakups are never ever easy. Never. They’re possibly one of the most painful experiences one could go through and it’s always a moment filled with tears, sleepless nights, and mixed emo moments.
Someone I know recently got out of a long term relationship…it lasted five years and ten months to be exact. She said it was sad, painful, and unexplainable, even to this day. I didn’t know what to tell her. Even if I give her advice, I know it won’t change a thing. The feelings will remain no matter how hard she tries until the time comes when she’s finally okay, and who knows when that day will come. It can be after a month, a year, or more. How do you help someone who’s hurting? All I could really do was listen. And so I listened as she poured all her emotions out to me: -
Going Through A Breakup? Here's A Big Step Toward Healing
Posted on October 4, 2009 12:00AM
Disclaimer: I wasn’t going through a breakup when I decided to embark on an experience that would probably—hopefully—change my life for the better. I joined On Fire because I wanted to figure out how to make my relationships work…because of late, they have all turned out so wrong (well, at least the supposedly romantic ones).
On Fire is not your usual retreat, so don’t be quick to dismiss this post with “Ay, retreat lang pala, akala ko naman kung ano na.” If you’re going through a breakup or any form of heartbreak, and somebody advised you to go on retreat and you scoffed at them because you think it won’t help, well, trust me, the On Fire weekend will.

Fooling around during break with my fellow On Fire participants (I'm the one holding a cup)
