Old Patterns
Posted on August 1, 2010 12:00AM

I continued to work with Matt for an entire week. We edited the script he wrote through e-mail because I refused—with all my might—to converse with him through chat. I didn't want to fall into an old pattern. It took me years to get him out of my system. So when a chat invitation popped up on my browser, followed by a request to be added to my contacts list, I quickly ignored it and then I blocked him.
Mercifully, he didn't ask me why. We worked through e-mail as two professionals in the same industry, while I managed to keep myself from asking the many questions I had wanted to ask since he broke my heart and my ego years ago.

Sponsored Dates
Posted on July 26, 2010 12:00AM

Speaking of worthwhile, Logan's officemates really made their work hours worthwhile by getting all High School Musical and teasing Logan to the brink of insanity.
One afternoon at work, Logan found a huge LOGAN (heart) VERONICA written on one of the whiteboards in their department. As the day progressed, Logan realized that it was written on every whiteboard on their floor. The Qube's Lung Center Talk turned into grueling hot seat sessions where he had to answer not too subtle inquiries about his dating life.
On my end, Chi had me repeat five times the story of how I met Logan.
"And to think you turned down a blind date with him!" Chi exclaimed over the phone.

That 7PM Date And Romanticism Failed!
Posted on July 25, 2010 12:00AM

The next day, I tried my best not to be anxious about the 7PM date. Okay, so maybe it wasn't a date. It actually bordered on blackmail, sure, but I needed answers. I tried to keep my thoughts at bay, but every time I saw Logan online on Y!IM, I had to fight the urge to buzz him. And boy, did I want to buzz him good!
When the clock read 6:45PM, I took my time powdering my nose in the office comfort room. At exactly 7 o'clock in the evening, I was standing in front of Starbucks at The Podium, and my Prince of Persia was nowhere in sight. I was determined to keep my vow not to wait for any man (like I did a thousand times with Matt years ago), so when 7 o'clock came and went, I decided to hail a cab. And then my phone rang.

After 500 Hints, He Still Doesn't Get It
Posted on July 24, 2010 12:00AM

Weeks passed and Logan and I began to see each other more often. Too often and too long, I think, that I began to feel that I might be a bad influence on him. If we were not chatting (during my work hours, bad, bad, bad!), we were hanging out at the mall (during his work hours, bad, bad, bad!). It almost looked like we didn't have work at all.
Despite the long hours we spent chatting, SMS-ing, and hanging out, I really wasn't sure if he was courting me. At one particular moment, I somehow managed to find a little appreciation for the guys who still think it's okay to ask the lamest question in the entire history of Filipino dating: "Can I court you?" Eww.
Well, at least that way, you get a clear idea whether the guy wants something beyond friendship and companionship. Let's face it, some guys are just plain friendly or worse, dense.

First Night With Logan
Posted on July 19, 2010 12:00AM

"So," Logan fidgeted in his chair and faced me. "Prom queen, huh?"
"Please," I elbowed him. "I'm not particularly fond of that memory."
"But it's like a dream come true for most girls, right?" he asked, obviously confused. "I should know. My sister cried on her prom night. She was this close to winning the crown. She went home looking like a raccoon in a sequined dress."
"Well, I guess I'm not like most girls."
"Seriously, what are you, a guy?"
