Ondoy, Pepeng, And The Cosmo Online Hunk Shoot

Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng were major party poopers. The main reasons being how they took lives, destroyed property, and rendered many people homeless and helpless.
Another reason, at least for me and the Cosmo.ph team, was how it almost rendered our October Online Hunk shoot almost impossible.
I was all set to shoot Cosmo’s October Online Hunk on September 28, Monday. The Friday before that, September 25, I made sure that everything was in place—I had ironed things out with the owner of the location, the model (John Cruz) had agreed to make the trip from Angeles to Manila for the shoot, and the stylist had already promised to pull out clothes the next day, September 26. I slept soundly Friday night, even as rains raged outside my bedroom window, not realizing that I would wake up the next day to turn on my TV and see horrifying shots of Manila submerged in gray, swirling floodwater.

Hurray, I’m 10 blogs old today! Who knew, after all my dilly-dallying, that I’d get the hang of doing this for you all? For someone who admittedly agreed to take this gig for the extra cash it’d bring, I can’t believe how it’s paying off for me now in ways that go far beyond the financial.

And Along Comes October

Beer was the least of my priorities last week. If you’ve been following this little, six-pack-abs-bereft corner of mine here on Cosmo.ph, you may have read an entry or two in the past that contained undeniable proof of my love for and devotion to the golden brew. My tab, however, has been surprisingly spotless for the past 10 days. This is the first time since my three-week forced sobriety in 2007 (the year I officially became hypertensive) that I’ve let that many days whiz by with nary a gulp. Just didn’t have the drive to drink, that’s all.
