Keep Going!
Posted on January 16, 2012 02:00PM

I was half-giggling, half-shouting my part of the conversation with Logan, as I was standing in the middle of an open parking lot on a busy Monday evening. As it turned out, they saw my open resume on one of those job hunting sites I recently joined, saw the links to my two professional online portfolios, and poof! I became a job applicant with a job interview scheduled within the week. -
The Best Things Come To Those Who Wait...
Posted on January 15, 2012 12:00AM

Just a few days after that dinner in Empire Deli & Restaurant, I received a call from the headhunters for St. Luke's Global City. They were looking for a senior PR writer who could start immediately.
It was my first time to do a Skype interview. Seriously, they do this now? What happened to face-to-face interviews? It was almost funny. From the waist up, I was dressed like a newscaster, complete with eye makeup (which my mother did) and hair tied neatly in a high ponytail. I was even wearing one of those corporate jackets that Charlie wore when I bumped into her at Greenbelt 3. But under that (and unknown to them), I was just wearing a pair of loose boxers from Logan and fluffy white slippers. -
Goodbye, Self-Doubt
Posted on January 14, 2012 12:00AM

Seven days later, I still had no calls. Not a single one. Well, that is, from the companies I sent my resume to. Logan was the only one we kept calling to ask me about my job hunt. No matter how many times people tell me to forget about it first, how could I do that when my future is on the line here?!
After two weeks, still there was nothing. Whenever my email said I had a new message, my excitement would be crushed when I logged on only to find another email from Deal Grocer. -
Finding A Job At 26
Posted on January 13, 2012 07:00AM

Two weeks have passed since our Hong Kong trip, but the scents, flavors, and sounds of that beautiful, lively city remained in my mind. But as I slowly slid back into my usual routine, I began to feel this somewhat depressed state creep back in.
Aside from writing about my recent trip, I found myself with absolutely nothing to do. No big projects to plan, no pending writing assignments to rush, no trips to look forward to. And since I don't have a 9-to-5 job like the rest of my friends, dance and kickboxing classes at the gym were the only schedules that kept me on my toes. Of course, whenever I felt like dressing up, I'd just go to McKinley Hill and work at CBTL while waiting for Logan so we could later have a fancy dinner in one of the restaurants there (I love, love, love Empire Deli & Restaurant).
But, that was it.

Logan's Surprise
Posted on August 27, 2011 12:00AM

Rose returned to her friends just as Logan went back to the office to finish some work. As per my usual routine, I opened Microsoft Word on my laptop and stared at a blank page until I decided to take all the travel magazines displayed near the condiments section and browse through them instead.
The passion and excitement I felt earlier was fast fading. It bothered me how I couldn't hold on to those feelings like I used to. Back in my early, early 20s, I could feel so strongly for someone (guess who) even if I hadn't talked to him in months. I could hold so much emotion in the palm of my hands, and then write about it for hours on end. Why is it that now, when I'm really confident about my place in Logan's life, I can't write about it extensively?
