With hair being your crowning glory, hair loss can have a massive impact on your self-esteem. After all, your tresses are usually what people notice about you.

Hair loss can occur at any given time due to a variety of factors, including stress, hormonal imbalances, and/or simply genetics. The good news is that hair loss doesn’t have to be a life-long sentence you must suffer from. For thinning hair and receding hairlines, here are simple but effective hacks you can do to stop the problem from getting worse:

1. Get Scalp Massages with Nourishing Oils

A good scalp massage, paired with natural nourishing oils, can help improve the blood flow that goes to the surface of your scalp. When this happens, nutrients are better delivered throughout your head and onto your hair follicles. More nutrients delivered to your follicles translates to a healthier hair condition.

As an added bonus, the aromatherapy you get from the oils helps ease the stress that contributes to thinning hair. Try various scents such as lavender and rosemary. Almond and coconut oil are also especially known for promoting hair growth.

2. Eat Right

Your food choices have an impact on your hair health. Make sure to eat a well-balanced diet so you can get all the proper nutrients that also benefit your hair. Protein, for example, is important for hair health, but too much of it can also eventually contribute to hair loss. The key, therefore, is to take everything in moderation.

For vegetarians, getting sufficient protein intake need not be a problem. There are a lot of other non-meat protein sources, such as tofu, peanut butter, quinoa, lentils, protein bars, and dairy products like milk, cheese, and yogurt. Iron-rich foods, such as chicken and fish are also great additions to your diet. Throw in some broccoli, spinach, and kale in case your taste buds want some variety.

3. Go Easy on Hair Treatments

Do you frequent salons for full hair color or highlights? Regular exposure to harsh chemicals make the strands thinner and more given to breakage.

These chemicals will also inevitably seep directly into the scalp, potentially damaging the follicles and thereby affecting hair growth. Consult with your hair specialist if it’s safe for you to get a particular kind of hair treatment before getting on with it. Perming, dyeing, and constant blow-drying can all weaken your hair’s condition.

4. Use the Right Hair Products

Fortunately, there are readily available products in the market that are specifically meant to counter hair loss. Bosley, for example, offers hair masks that prevent hair fall by improving hair health. Anti-hair fall shampoos, coupled with the right conditioner, are also great to help combat thinning hair.

For severe cases, however, more drastic measures like hair transplants may be required. Keep in mind that you cannot decide to get these treatments on your own. You will need to undergo assessment and consultation with your haircare expert, such as the specialists at Bosley, to determine which treatment is most suited for you.
