Who Is Mikee Morada, Alex Gonzaga's Husband?

The name Mikee Morada would be super familiar to everyone who follows Alex Gonzaga on YouTube, and as we know by now, Mikee is the social media superstar's husband! Ever since Alex went public with her relationship with Mikee in 2017 and documented their many milestones together in her vlogs, we've gotten to know a bit about her low-key and soft-spoken life partner. But since we've always been curious to know more about Mikee, we curated this list of fast facts about him! Read on below:

Mikee Morada's birthday is on April 18, 1987!

He studied at UCLA.

Mikee never revealed this info publicly until he appeared in Alex's California vlog back in 2018. "This is UCLA! This is where Mikee graduated. Unibersidad Ng Caloocan At Laguna. UCLA," Alex said as she was toured by Mikee on campus. We don't know what he majored in but what we do know is that UCLA actually stands for University Of California, Los Angeles! He's a councilor of Lipa, Batangas.

Yup, Mikee Morada is a government official! Although a US citizen, Mikee's family hails from Lipa City in Batangas and he ran for councilor in the May 2019 elections and won. You can see updates on his councilor duties via his official Facebook page here.

We got to see a bit of Mikee's life in Batangas when Alex visited him at his "office," the Bahay Pamahalaan Ng Lipa. Mikee, ever the tour guide, showed off his hometown while riding a tricycle and eating at his favorite lomi stall.

He met Alex through Piolo Pascual!

In the couple's first interview together in 2017, they told the hosts of Magandang Buhay how they met—and it happened to be because of Piolo Pascual. Mikee apparently had been Insta-stalking Alex online and developed a crush on her, and because of this asked his friend Piolo that he wanted to be introduced to her. Mikee never thought it would push through until he got a random call from Piolo one Sunday afternoon. "Kasi si PJ, friend ko siya. Tapos lagi ko siyang [Alex] tinitingnan sa Instagram," Mikee said. "Feeling ko makakasundo ko siya. Lagi kong sinasabi [kay Piolo], 'Pare, pakilala mo naman ako.' Pero wala, hindi niya ginagawan ng paraan. Parang wala siyang sinasabi sa akin. Until one day, tumatawag si PJ, tapos sabi ko, 'Bakit kaya tumatawag 'to e ASAP?' Pagsagot ko si Alex yung [sumagot]."

Alex went on to continue the story: "Sabi ko, 'Gusto mo daw ako makilala?' Alam mo ano sagot niya? 'Maja?' E buti katabi ko si Maja [Salvador], 'E ikaw pala gusto makilala!' Pesteng lalaking ka!"

Thing is, Mikee knew Piolo was close to Maja so he assumed that the woman on the phone was her, LOL! According to Alex, Piolo had been bugging her about Mikee for a while but she didn't want to entertain him because someone else was courting her. Good thing that fizzled out which made way for Mikee to ~enter her life~. "November pa lang sinasabi sa akin ni PJ, 'Uy, merong may crush sa'yo!' 'Patingin ng picture. Cutie! Oh, go!'" Alex said. "E sabi ni Kuya Luis [Manzano], ''Wag! May manliligaw 'yan ngayon!' 'Oh, sige. Fine.' Sabi ko, 'Kapag malungkot na lang ako. 'Pag hindi ito natuloy.' E hindi natuloy! Blessing in disguise. Buti nga!"

Back to the phone call, Mikee finally got hold of Alex and heard her say this to him: "Kung gusto mo akong makausap, gumawa ka ng paraan." And so he did! "Mahiyain kasi ako pero parang may nag-push sa akin," Mikee said. "Sabi ko, 'Sige, gagawa ako ng paraan.' Hinigi ko yung number niya kay PJ tapos tinext ko siya kung kailan siya free, baka pwede makipag-meet. Ayun nag-reply naman siya."

He courted Alex for seven months.

In the same Magandang Buhay interview, Alex revealed her manliligaw "curse": Whenever a suitor courts her, the whole thing fizzles out every October. So, Alex being Alex told Mikee that he could ask her to be his girlfriend on any month except October, which, no surprise here, he complied to. "Every month sinasabi niya niya, 'Pwede bang tayo na?' Sabi ko, 'Hindi pa,'" Alex said. "Sabi ko sa kanya na every time na may nanliligaw, binibigyan ko sila ng chance [pero pagdating ng] October, hindi nagla-last. Talagang isang buwan lang. Sabi ko sa kanya, 'Naku, pagdating ng October, 'wag kang magtatanong kasi hindi talaga dahil may curse."

"So hindi talaga ako nagtanong," Mikee said. "Pero hinintay ko na pagkatapos na pagkatapos ng October, tinanong ko kaagad. Kasi bakit ko pa patatagalin?"

Alex also shared a sweet story of when they first started dating, and it was that Mikee made a surprise visit to her dinner on his very own birthday! Here's how the cute story played out, according to Alex: "Nung sinabi ko sa kanya, 'Sige, puntahan mo ako dito.' Kasi sabi niya any time daw pwede. E nagkita kami sa ASAP, hindi naman kami masyado nagkausap. Tapos nung sinabi sa akin ng mga friends ko—kasi siyempre hindi ko siya kilala, wala akong alam na background sa kanya—nung sinabi [ng friends ko], 'Okay naman 'yan! Kilala namin 'yan.' May mga common friends pala kami. So sabi ko, 'Why not? Bigyan natin siya ng chance.' Tapos nagdi-dinner na kami, sabi ko lang andito ako. Bigla siyang lumabas. Pumunta siya doon sa dinner! Tapos 'di ko alam na birthday pala niya nung araw na 'yon. After ng family dinner nila, dumeretso siya sa akin. Sabi ko, 'In fairness to you, ako ang birthday gift sa'yo.'"

He comes from a conservative family.

It's a known fact in Philippine showbiz that Alex's parents, Mommy Pinty and Daddy Bonoy, are strict and conservative, especially to their daughters. But knowing this wasn't intimidating at all for Mikee because he too grew up in a conservative household. Actually, Alex coming from a conservative family was one of the qualities that appealed to him most! "More than yung personality niya na nakakatawa, nakakapagpasaya ng mga tao, ang nakita ko kasi ang family background niya, yung values nila," Mikee said in the same Magandang Buhay interview. "Conservative sila, yung family nila, may curfew. Ganun din kasi sa amin. So imbis na ma-intimidate ka, mas na-appreciate ko. Sabi ko, ''Yan yung mga babaeng tine-treasure.'"

Because of Alex's conservative upbringing, the couple was only able to travel abroad and ride a plane together in January 2020! The two were headed to Hong Kong to celebrate Alex's birthday—but tagging along with them were Alex's uncle and her parents. Little did Alex know that Mikee was proposing to her on that trip. "Pinayagan na po ako nina Mommy Pinty na makapag-abroad—tingnan niyo, nasa eroplano kami—kasama si Mikee…Heto pala yung feeling na kasama sa eroplano si Mikee," Alex gushed in her vlog.

He has an Instagram account.
