NU Triumphs Over UE In UAAP 79 Women's Volleyball Opening Game

National University Lady Bulldogs faced the University of the East Lady Warriors on the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament opening day. The game was held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, February 4.

In anticipation of the game, ABS-CBN Sports correspondent Mark Escarlote has noted: "The Lady Warriors hope to carry the inspiration of their lone victory in Season 78 to change their fortune after years of disappointments."

Indeed, the Lady Warriors started out strong. "The Lady Bulldogs dropped the first set, when they gave up 19 points on errors and the Lady Warriors enjoyed a 19-11 lead," reports Mei-Lin Lozada on SPIN.ph.

Lozada went on to point out, "NU survived a tough challenge from UE with 18-25, 25-20, 25-23, and 25-13." She added, "The last time the Lady Warriors beat the Lady Bulldogs was in the elimination round in 2012."

Fans who congratulated the Lady Bulldogs also praised the Lady Warriors for playing a great game.
