You ~*Have*~ To Watch The 'Reply 1988' Confession Scene In Filipino

Reply 1988 gave us one of the most intense second lead syndromes EVER, and one key moment that contributed to it took place in Episode 18, when Jung Hwan (Ryu Jun Yeol) *almost* confessed to Deok Sun (Hyeri). A Tagalog-dubbed version of Reply 1988 is currently airing on TV5, and although we are all super comfortable with reading subtitles by now, hearing Jung Hwan's lines in Filipino makes it even more masakit!

In a video uploaded by a Reply 1988 fan page, we see Jung Hwan taking out his class ring and setting it in front of Deok Sun, much to everyone's shock.

He then says: "Ibibigay ko dapat sa'yo 'yan noong gumraduate ako. Sa'yo na yan. Kasi gusto kita. Gusto nga kita. Naging ganito ako ngayon dahil sa'yo. Isang oras akong nasa gate natin, para lang magkasabay tayong pumasok sa school. Hinihintay ko yung pag-uwi mo tuwing gabi. Hindi ako makatulog habang nasa study room ka. Bakit [hindi ka pa] umuuwi? Nakatulog ka ba doon? Wala akong iniisip kundi ikaw. Ikaw lang." 

"Tuwing sabay tayo umuwi sakay ng bus, at saka noong nanood tayo ng concert, at saka yung pink polo shirt na regalo mo noong birthday ko. Sobra akong masaya, para nga akong nasisiraan ng ulo. Araw-araw gusto kitang nakikita. Makita lang kita masaya na ako. Matagal ko na 'tong gustong sabihin, na gusto kita. Mahal kita."

And then...Jung Hwan takes the whole confession back and makes it seem like a joke. Ben&Ben, please play "Lifetime" on repeat!

Reply 1988 is a 2015 K-drama that tells the story of five childhood friends—and their families—who all grew up in the same neighborhood in Seoul. *Spoiler Alert*: In the drama, Deok Sun doesn't end up with Jung Hwan and marries Taek, (Park Bo Gum) instead! Don't worry, Jun Yeol and Hyeri ended up dating IRL.
