Samantha Bernardo Admits That Being Bb. Pilipinas 2nd Runner-Up Again This Year Is 'Quite A Shock'

In a lengthy post addressing negative comments online, Binibining Pilipinas second runner-up Samantha Bernardo talks about winning the same title two years in a row. “I must admit that being second runner-up again this year was quite a shock. But I know truly in my heart that I gave my all, I deserve better, and I have no regrets. I fully respect and trust the decision of all the Bb. Pilipinas judges that night and I have nothing against it.”

To those who are saying she’s “bitter” and dragging her for not attending post-coronation activities, she says, “[I had] been so sick for almost two weeks [prior to] coronation night. The staff can attest that I used oral spray and nasal spray every now and then before going onstage just to be presentable. Now, I need to go to Singapore for a wedding. FYI, Binibini knew about this. Give me a break.” 

The Palawan candidate adds, “People should know that runners-up are not required to show up to every activity. It's our prerogative. So let's stop the hate and let's just focus on spreading love and positivity. Let's support our queens and [use] our energy on things that matter the most!”

Her advice for anyone who’s going through a hard time: “Don't be afraid to start all over again. Don't be afraid that your heart is hurting. It means your feelings are genuine. I went through a lot that I can only surpass with courage and acceptance. If you need to let go of whatever is hurting you, then do it to heal.”

“I have served my purpose and I will continue doing this whatever happens, with or without a crown,” says the 26-year-old model and development mentor whose advocacy is to eradicate malaria.
