Not to be totally cynical here but...does it sometimes feel like your days are just a repeat of the previous one—and the one before that? Don't worry, you're not the only one who's experiencing this because filmmakers and producers completely get that feeling of being stuck: there have been sooo many time loop stories over the years!

A time loop, also known as a "temporal loop," takes place in fiction when characters "re-experience a span of time which is repeated, sometimes more than once, with some hope of breaking out of the cycle of repetition." In short, paulit-ulit! One of the most popular examples of this genre is the 1993 film Groundhog Day, where a weatherman finds himself reliving the same day over and over again.

Here's a list of films and series for you to watch—and relate to:

1. Russian Doll (2019)

Where to watch it: Netflix

One of my personal favorites, Russian Doll tells the story of a woman named Nadia who is *forced* to relive the night of her 36th birthday again and again. Each night, she meets a tragic end...and somehow "wakes up" in front of a bathroom mirror. It's also going to have a second season

2. The Good Place (2016)

Where to watch it: Netflix

Okay, so this is not exactly a "time-loop" narrative, but it involves "higher beings" who somehow have control over the main characters. *Spoiler Alert*: Eleanor, who recently died, finds herself in "The Good Place," aka heaven. There's one problem though: She knows she doesn't belong there and she's determined not to let anyone else find out. There's a whole sequence where Eleanor and her friends just keep reliving different scenarios in The Good Place and it's hilarious!

3. Love Wedding Repeat (2020)

Where to watch it: Netflix

"Different versions of the same day unfold as Jack juggles difficult guests, unbridled chaos, and potential romance at his sister's wedding." This Sam Claflin movie is loosely based on the 2012 French film Plan De Table.

4. 50 First Dates (2004)

Where to watch it: Netflix

This one's a kinda sad but classic romantic comedy movie. Henry falls for a woman named Lucy, and it turns out that she has anterograde amnesia, which means she keeps forgetting him the next day! Her condition doesn't stop him though, and Henry is determined to make her fall in love with him every day. Tears are inevitable, I tell you.

5. Palm Springs (2020)

In this film, "Nyles and Sarah have a chance encounter at a Palm Springs wedding, but things get complicated when they find themselves unable to escape the venue, themselves, or each other."

6. The Truman Show (1998)

Where to watch it: Netflix

Again, not very time-loopy, but this movie about the naive star of a reality show has that "OMG someone else is in control of my life" feel. For Truman, every morning starts the same way and everything feels scripted—even his marriage.

7. When We First Met (2018)

Where to watch it: Netflix

Yup, it's another rom-com! In this film, Noah uses a *magical* time machine that's disguised as a photo booth to go back to the day he first met Avery, the girl he's in love with. I especially love this movie's ending!

8. Happy Death Day (2017)

Where to watch it: YouTube Movies

If you're in the mood for a horror + slasher film, in Happy Death Day"a college student relives the day of her murder with both its unexceptional details and terrifying end until she discovers her killer's identity." If you want more, there's also a sequel called Happy Death Day 2U

9. Before I Fall (2017)

Based on a popular YA novel of the same name, this film tells the story of a popular teenager with the "perfect" life who dies in a tragic car crash and finds herself reliving the same day over and over. The official movie synopsis tells us: "She begins to question just how perfect her life really was. As she begins to untangle the mystery of a life suddenly derailed, she must also unwind the secrets of the people closest to her, and discover the power of a single day to make a difference, not just in her own life, but in the lives of those around herbefore she runs out of time for good."

10. Edge Of Tomorrow (2014)

Where to watch it: YouTube Movies

According to Warner Bros, this film is set in the near future, where an unbeatable alien race has arrived on Earth. "An officer (played by Tom Cruise) who has never seen a day of combat is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, he finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again...and again."
