For some of us, the desire to have an S.O. to swap presents and go on dinner dates with is at its most pervasive approaching Christmas day. In case you want to take a chance at finding your holiday romance online, an interesting profile is your key to getting more matches. Our friends at Bumble share their top five tips to help you make your profile stand out.

  1. It’s all about your first photo.

Show off your smile, your eyes, and your whole face to make a positive first impression. Skip the sunglasses or photo filters when deciding on your first photo and make sure it’s only you in the image. It’s nice to include snaps with your friends, but you want your potential matches to know right off the bat who they’re swiping right to.

  1. Keep your highlight reel real.

Your photos are all about showcasing slices of your actual life, especially the parts you’d like to share with someone. If you're the adventurous type, show that off by including a picture of your most recent trek. If you’re all about your dog, include a cute snap of you and your four-legged friend.

  1. Less is not always more.

Don’t leave your profile blank! This is your opportunity to show off your amazing sense of humor and let your potential match know just how kalog you can be. Everyone loves a funny and unique profile. It’s also a good idea to include an interesting question those who want to get in touch with you can answer in their first message.

  1. Show off what makes you one of a kind.

Give specific examples or anecdotes that show your matches what makes you unique. Lots of people are fun, outgoing, adventurous, love to travel, or enjoy being active, so go beyond those descriptions. If you like cooking, talk about your specialty dish. If you love partying out, mention your favorite local spots.

  1. Ask a trusted BFF for their opinion.

While we can be our own worst critics sometimes, our friends can help us see our best traits. If you don’t know what to put in your profile, ask the people you trust to describe you or to name the things about you that stand out the most. You can even ask your closest confidantes to help select the best photos to upload to your profile. A study shows that other people are better at picking flattering photos of us than ourselves.
