How Emma Watson Made $14 Million In One Year
You know how so many child stars desperately want to forget the roles that made them famous? And we kinda get it: It's hard to take on new roles if you've been pigeonholed. But Emma Watson doesn't feel that way about Hermione Granger.
Emma told Metro, "The last day that we finished on [the] set [of Beauty and the Beast] was actually the anniversary of the day that I was cast as Hermione. I felt this strange sense of completion and that I'd come full circle."
According to senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian, "Every kid who grew up on Harry Potter felt instantly comfortable seeing Emma Watson on screen; even if she wasn't Hermione Granger, she was Belle. [Disney] could have plugged in any actor into that role but it wouldn't have had that magic."
Globally, Beauty and the Beast made $1.26 billion, making it the top-grossing movie of 2017 (so far).
Though she was only paid $3 million upfront for her portrayal of Belle, Forbes reports that between June 2016 and June 2017, Emma earned $14 million pretax. It's important to note that she also made money from her movie The Circle, so the $14 million isn't just from BATB.
