The game is on! Japanese fashion brand Onitsuka Tiger continues to excite fashionistas around the world with a contemporary collection that combines high fashion concepts with casual street style, heritage, and innovation.
Its Spring/Summer 2020 collection recently launched in Southeast Asia at the Luxe Art Museum in Singapore. The venue was illuminated in illusionary blue light, recreating the Spring/Summer 2020 show designed by Creative Director Andrea Pompilio at the Shin-toyosu Brillia Running Stadium held in October.
“This season is a big homage to Tokyo because it’s going to be the [venue for the] 2020 Olympic Games,” he shares. “The collection is going to be in the stores at that time. For me, it’s like the world is coming here and Tokyo has become the center for creativity and a very inspiring city for so many people.”
The Onitsuka collection also pays homage to Kihachiro Onitsuka, the founder of Onitsuka Tiger. It touches on five important elements like “The New Youth”, “The Modern Uniform”, “The New Casual”, “The Sports Obsession”, and “The Free Spirit”.
Models were spotted wearing stylish getups that draw inspiration from different sports. There were tank tops and shorts, denim cargo pants, fitted multicolored t-shirts, padded jackets, transparent coats, a fitted bicolor knit pullover, and a satin evening dress that resembled a boxing robe. Overall, the colors were a mix of dark shades and neon colors.
Selected pieces will be available soon on the Onitsuka Tiger website and in stores worldwide. Onitsuka Tiger is available locally at Greenbelt 5, Shangri-La Plaza Mall, Ayala Cebu, Ayala Manila Bay, and Bonifacio High Street Central. For more details, follow Onitsuka Tiger on Facebook and Instagram.
