If you’re a curly girl, frizz is your number one enemy. Especially in a humid climate like the Philippines, it becomes even harder to tame frizz, making us more prone to bad hair days. But don’t let that stop you from loving your natural curls and giving into the “mag pa-rebond ka nalang” mindset you’ve probably heard countless times.
As a curly girl myself, it took me years until I finally figured out how to tame the frizz and get my locks looking defined and just healthier overall. Luckily for you, you don’t have to wait as long as I did. We went ahead and asked celebrities and fellow curly girls on how they keep their manes frizz-free, bouncy, and lively. Here are some of their pro tips as well as the exact products they recommend (and don't worry they only take a few steps)!

“The first factor to get frizz-free curls starts from how we shampoo our hair. I use Curlssential’s Gentle Clarifying Shampoo and scalp brush to massage my scalp gently (no need for aggressive rubbing [as] that can cause frizz). Then I proceed to detangle and define my curls using Curlssential’s Detangling Brush and Moisturizing Conditioner (moisturized curls = frizz-free curls). Don’t forget to apply stylers! Lastly, use a satin head cap and pillowcase when you sleep to avoid unwanted frizz while resting.”

“[I] love curl talks, [because] I do know a curly one out there needs it. Mine’s a bit more loose and wavy than tight and curly, so I’d say it’s been easier to maintain: [I just] brush in the shower, scrunch [my hair] with [a] towel, [put on some] [OI Oil], then [OI All-in-One Milk] spray, then Davines’ Sea Salt Spray all from our hair studio, Koop Studio.”

“Well, I only use a few but I can guarantee these products really do good for my hair. I use the Curls shampoo and conditioner by Zenutrients. Aside from it being affordable and accessible to everyone (it’s available in Watsons or supermarkets) it just really makes my hair healthy and it doesn’t make my hair dry."

"But my holy grail for maintaining my good curly hair talaga is the [MONEA Curl Defining Milk], it’s a hair lotion that keeps your curly hair fluffy and it smells really good! I use it everyday and I always have this in my routine.”

“A curl care pro-tip I can share is to “pre-poo” (treatment before shampooing) or detangle before shampooing. Detangling can be done by mixing your favorite conditioner with some water in a spray bottle, spraying it onto your hair and then gently brushing through it. This prevents breakage in the shower!”
