For those who have been wondering when salons would start expanding their service menu, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has announced that hair treatments are now allowed.

DTI released a new memo on July 7, 2020, stating that hair treatments, including color, perming, rebonding, and deep conditioning are allowed in salons in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ). On the other hand, those establishments under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) can offer the following: Haircuts, hair treatments, nail care, basic facial care (such as makeup, eyebrow threading, eyelash extension, and facial massage). Other basic personal care services such as waxing, threading, shaving, foot spa, and hand spa, shall be permitted in MCGCQ areas, too. These are all subject to strict protocols on hand sanitation, face mask and face shields, gloves, and sterilized equipment.

It is highly recommended that you book your appointment first to avoid long wait times. Salons under GCQ and MCQ can only accommodate 30 percent and 50 percent of their operational capacities, respectively.
