2. Keep your scalp clean.
Experts advise washing your hair daily if you live in a polluted and humid city. Complement your conditioner with a mild shampoo that won’t dry out your scalp. Giving your scalp a massage as you shampoo is also a great way to detoxify it and promote healthy hair growth.
3. Remember: Scalding hot water is a no-no.
Turn down the temps in the shower. Blasting your scalp with hot water can dry out your hair and create tangles that can result in breakage. Stick to warm water or water at room temperature when washing your hair, then rinse out the conditioner with cooler water to lock in the moisturizing benefits. Cold water also seals the cuticle, allowing light to reflect off the hair, producing shine.
4. Avoid rubbing a towel against your hair.
You’re in for a bad hair day if you brush a towel against your locks. The friction on your hair’s cuticle will result in dry, frizzy, and weak strands. Instead, gently squeeze the water out of your hair or pat it dry with a soft towel. Better yet, use an old cotton T-shirt to dry your hair. Worn-in tees have a flat and smooth surface, so they don’t rough up the hair.
