Miley Cyrus is finally a Grammy Award winner! Her record-breaking single "Flowers" took home Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year at last night's 66th Annual Grammy Awards—but a large part of Cyrus' night wasn't just her six nominations, her Tina Turner-inspired performance of "Flowers", or her instantly iconic acceptance speeches. It was also quite literally her hair.
Miley Cyrus' Red Carpet Look At The 2024 Grammys
Cyrus arrived on the Grammys red carpet wearing a safety-pin Maison Margiela dress styled with bronzed makeup and hair teased sky-high. According to her hairstylist, Bob Recine, the hero product behind the voluminous look was Nexxus XXL Medium Hold Hairspray, which you can purchase on Shopee for P1,599. In a press release, he shared that, "We wanted something dry and bigger, more fuller hair, but sexy and tousled and touchable.” A complete 180 from the slick, wet look she wore to last year's awards show.

Before creating the bouffant, Recine prepped Cyrus' hair with Nexxus Prep & Protect Heat Defense Spray and Epic Shine Anti-Humidity Spray while damp "to keep moisture and humidity from changing [the] end result." Then, he blow-dried her hair with a medium-sized round brush and backcombed the roots with a teasing brush, applying a healthy dose of the XXL hairspray section by section. He added a few Velcro rollers on top to create "that sexy bounce," applying a few drops of Nexxus Repair and Nourish Hair Oil as a finishing touch.
"Although I love all the Nexxus hairsprays I really love this medium hold spray as it leaves hair with no residue and has a strong but soft hold on all styles," Racine shared in an Instagram post. Barely a hair fell out of place during Cyrus' performance and multiple outfit changes throughout the night, so it's safe to say the salon-quality formula provides the pliable volume and long-lasting hold it promises.
Though many TikTokers are drawing connections between her teased bouffant and the trending mob wife aesthetic, we're sensing Cyrus' inspiration came mainly from her godmother Dolly Parton, who once famously declared, "The higher the hair, the closer to god." And it certainly wouldn't be the first time she's taken styling cues from drag queens and '70s divas like Tina Turner and Diana Ross, either.
Fans were quick to spot a similarly teased hairstyle in one of Cyrus' recent Instagram posts, sparking rumors that the pop star is ushering in a new hair era. I guess, we'll just have to wait until her next red carpet appearance to find out. Until then, team Cosmo will continue teasing our hair to the high heavens.
