As much as we love a good hair transformation, we also know that maintaining color-treated hair is hard. All the effort is worth it though, according to Pinays like Rosenthal Tee, Maggie Wilson, Vina Guerrero, Camille Co, and Adela-Mae Marshall. Below, our chat with them during Cream Silk’s Vibrance Studio event about how they got the color they wanted and how they make sure it stays bright and vibrant.
Describe the hair color you’re sporting right now. What do you like about it?
Rosenthal: I’m really into the whole unicorn-colored hair trend lately. A lot of pinks and purples. I saw it online and decided to color my hair that way this year.
Maggie: It’s ash blonde with highlights and lowlights running through it. I love how pretty it looks when I style it in mermaid waves or even in messier hairdos—it’s a very chill look. It’s actually given me more confidence and I don’t have to wake up extra early to fix my hair.
Vina: Right now, my hair color is a grayish blonde. I think it looks mature and sophisticated—a drastic change from the red hair I had before this. I feel like it fits my personality more and goes with every outfit I wear. After getting it done at the salon, I took selfies ASAP because I was very excited to show my followers the new look.
Camille: The color I’m sporting now is a deep chocolate brown. It’s a classic shade and it brings out my Asian features. I want my hair color to be something I'll still love 10 to 20 years from now, so that I can still fondly look through my wedding and honeymoon photos.
Adela: Since I’m a model, I’ve had to dye my hair a lot to fit different briefs. At one point, I’ve even had pink hair! Now, it’s a dark brown shade because I feel that it’s been the best look when it comes to booking gigs. I need to make sure that my look is simple so that I can be styled any way the shoot calls for—it makes me a good canvas.
How do you maintain the color?
Rosenthal: I don't wash my hair every day anymore. I know it’s really hot right now so it’s tempting to just get in the shower, but try to avoid sweating so you can wash your hair every other day. I wash my hair three to four times a week, and I make sure to use products that are sulfate-free so that the color doesn't wash off.
Maggie: I visit the salon to tone my hair once a month. I love getting hair treatments, but when I don’t have time to go to the salon, I use Cream Silk Triple Keratin Rescue Ultimate Color Revive Conditioner. Instead of just washing it off right away, I leave it in my hair for a few minutes. It acts as a hair treatment you can do at home. Sun exposure and chlorine in swimming pools can also fade hair color, so I try to avoid them as much as I can.
Vina: My stylist told me to not shampoo my hair every day unless I sweat a lot. I visit the salon monthly to have my hair treated.
Camille: I like to invest in products that are specifically made for color-treated tresses. My hair has gone through a lot of different color transformations and it can get very dry and brittle—that’s why I got so excited about Cream Silk’s Triple Keratin Rescue Ultimate Color Revive Conditioner. If I can’t go to the salon to get a treatment, I use the conditioner as a hair mask and leave it on for about 30 minutes.
Adela: I get regular treatments at the salon and do hair masks at home to prevent dryness and strengthen my hair.
How does Cream Silk Triple Keratin Rescue Ultimate Color Revive Conditioner bring out your hair's vibrance?
Rosenthal: I use the product to bring out the wild, experimental shades in my hair. It really helps me own the look.
Maggie: Every time I use it, my hair feels softer and more alive. It also has no sulfates in it so it doesn’t fade the blondeness. The keratin also helps keep my hair frizz-free. I feel pretty with my colored hair and Cream Silk keeps its vibrance intact.
Vina: It helps keep my hair bright, making me feel more confident when I attend events and shoots. Hindi na ako kinakabahan! My hair is also easier to style because it’s so soft and hydrated.
Camille: My hair lets me express myself. The conditioner helps me stay confident with my hair choices. Coloring my hair is my way of showing people that I go for what I want.
Adela: It really helps lock in the color and makes sure the color won’t fade easily. My hair gets heat-styled a lot, but I feel assured that the conditioner will help keep my tresses moisturized and damage-free.
