1. Always start with skincare
Pay attention to your skin, because having good skin is really the secret to constantly looking fresh. If you’re starting out, invest in a serum, eye cream, day and night creams, and facial sunblock first. Make sure to use products that are best suited for your skin type to get the most out of them. Moisturized skin looks healthy, glowing, and fresh. Dry skin can make you look tired and old.
Here’s another secret for glowing skin: face oils. Adding a face oil to your skincare routine will drastically improve your skin’s texture! And don’t be scared—most face oils are actually lightweight.

2. Even out your skin tone
If you don’t have skin issues that need to be concealed, use a lightweight base to even out your skin tone instead. Remember, you’re not limited to using just liquid foundation. You can opt for BB or CC creams, blur creams, tinted moisturizers, cushion compacts, and even primers to give you the coverage you need. If you have oily skin, you’re not limited to using just powders—but pick bases that are specifically formulated for your skin type.
Another trick we learned is that you should only apply brightening products on the center of your face. This draws in more light, making your features look naturally contoured.
3. Conceal wisely
Brighten up your face by concealing your dark under eye area, acne marks, spots, and other blemishes. Make sure to blend in the concealer properly with your finger or a small brush. If you have good skin, you can skip foundation and just spot conceal your problem areas.
4. Cream > powder
Using cream products—like blush, bronzer, and highlighter—make a huge difference in your look. They melt into the skin, leaving you with a natural glow and flush. It also helps that, most of the time, these products are formulated to offer hydration to your skin.

5. Use a highlighter
Most women fear using highlighter because they think it makes them look oily. However, it’s really just a matter of clever placement. Do not apply highlighter on your t-zone—where you naturally get greasy—and on your chin. If you’re not too confident about your highlighter skills, start by applying a small amount and blending it into your skin. Build it up as you please.
6. Try a finishing powder
Seal in your cream and liquid products by dusting a translucent powder. Do this sparingly, because overdoing it can lead to cakey makeup.
7. Fill in your arches
Forget the idea of “drawing on” your kilay. What you want to do is bulk them up by filling in the areas where hair is sparse. Use a light hand and draw on hair-like strokes, and brush up the hair after. Doing so will frame your face and bring out your features more. Don’t go for thick, perfect, Instagram brows! You want natural looking kilay.
8. Don’t forget to curl your lashes
This will open up your eyes and make you look more awake. Use a lengthening or volumizing mascara to keep that curl all day. Pro tip: always go for waterproof formulations!
9. Pick a pinky nude lipstick
Your lipstick choice plays a big role in pulling your look together. Choosing deep hues can instantly make you look vampy. But if you’re going for fresh lang, we recommend opting for blush or pinky nude lippies instead.

10. Use a face spray
Keep your makeup fresh by spritzing on a hydrating facial mist when you feel like you need to touch up. Hold the bottle about six inches away from your face, let the water set on your skin for about a minute, then take a piece of tissue and blot away. This will also get rid of that cakey feeling!
