It’s been over a month since Filipino beauty addicts have bookmarked Sephora.ph on their browsers. Just recently, we spoke with Alexis Horowitz-Burdick, Managing Director of Sephora Digital for South East Asia to know more important deets about the brand. Here, 9 things you should know about the online beauty source:
1. It used to be Luxola.com.
Luxola was a Singapore based e-tailer that had been shipping beauty to the Philippines for the past 5 years. Just recently, it was acquired by Sephora. “With Luxola already familiar with the Philippine market, Sephora’s entry into the Philippines was a smooth one, met with positive feedback,” said Burdick.
2. There are no definite plans for a physical store opening in Manila soon.
“Right now our focus is bringing on cult brands and well-loved international brands that are otherwise unavailable in the Philippines [online],” Burdick explained.
3. You don’t need a credit card to pay for your purchases.
The website actually offers DragonPay as one of their payment options, which lets customers pay via online banking, over the counter/ATM banking, payment centers (like Cebuana Lhuillier, Robinsons Department Store, SM department store, and more), and even GCash.
4. After you place your order, you only have to wait 2-10 days.
The company is based in Singapore, which is why shipping will take a few days. For orders above P1,300, shipping is absolutely free!
5. You can score FREE samples at checkout.
“One unique offering on Sephora.ph is our wide selection of samples at the checkout—your choice with every purchase,” Burdick says. “Premium samples are also available and can be unlocked when you spend above P4,200,” she adds. Also worth noting is that samples are available online are the same with the ones offered in physical stores.
6. Expect to see more well-loved makeup brands available on the website soon.
Popular brands like Tarte and Urban Decay are noticeably not available on Sephora.ph. According to Burdick, however, they’re definitely working on it! “We are working on bringing in these brands and more. Filipinas can subscribe to Sephora Emails and follow us on Instagram (@sephoraph) to get live updates on brand and product launches,” she said.
Right now, they carry some exciting exclusive brands for Pinays to try out, like Nudestix, Becca, Erno Laszlo, and Cover FX.
7. There are A LOT of new things to look forward to on the website.
“Our exciting pipeline of brand launches will combine a mixture of exclusive cult brands (which we can’t wait for Filipinas to try!) as well as internationally renowned brands. We can’t divulge specific dates or brands, but do keep your eyes peeled as we won’t disappoint,” Burdick said. WE CAN’T WAIT, TBH!!!
8. You can easily spot their best-sellers on their website.
On the homepage, you’ll see that they curate their best-selling products. Right now, Pinays are apparently obsessed with the Mario Badescu Drying Solution (and we understand why!), the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop (strobing is still huge), and Burberry lippies (of course.).
Also, you can check out the products and brands that are trending by just looking at the “Popular Searches” feature on top of the search box in the website.
9. We can all pick up handy beauty tips and tricks from them, too!
“We are constantly creating new content on our site to educate customers and help them stay on top of beauty trends. One avenue where expert advice is dished out is on our Sephora Inspired section. March is focused on Color Correction! Do watch this space as we have a different focus each month!” Burdick revealed.
