How To Look Awake After Pulling Off An All-Nighter

Plus, the eyeliner trick that will change EVERYTHING.

In a perfect world, we’d have enough time in a day to check everything off our to-do lists AND still get a good night’s sleep. Unfortunately, sometimes, 24 hours just won’t cut it.

If you ever find yourself looking like a hot mess the morning after staying up all night for whatever reason (school paper, work report, Netflix marathon—no judging!), here are some tips to appear like you’re not tired AF and dying for a power nap:

1. Freshen up your face

Begin your day by cleansing your face of grime and oil. But instead of using your regular face wash, try micellar water instead. It doesn’t contain alcohol and other drying ingredients, so it will remove dirt but won’t strip your skin of its natural oils. Micellar water is made of micelles—tiny molecules of oil suspended in water— that are responsible for gently getting rid of dirt, oil, and makeup on your face.

Try: Nuxe Micellar Cleansing Water, P575/100mL, Beauty Bar

2. Depuff your eyes

It's highly likely that you’ll start the day with puffy eyes. We recommend patting on a depuffing eye treatment to soothe the affected area. Another alternative is wrapping some ice cubes in a microfiber towel and applying this around your eyes—it will feel amazing. This hack promotes blood circulation, so you won’t have to deal with puffiness.

3. Hydrate and protect

Dehydrated skin can easily make you look more tired. After cleansing your face, use a moisturizer and then layer on sunblock to protect yourself from sun damage. If you want to add a bit more moisture, pat on a facial oil to refine and smooth out your skin’s texture.

4. Conceal as much as you can

Ditch the full-coverage foundations—those can add years to your face. Instead, opt for a concealer and spot-conceal the areas that need brightening. Pick a cream concealer that won’t make your skin look too matte.

5. Add color and glow to your face

Take an easy-to-blend cream blush and pack on some color on your cheeks. Then, take your trusty liquid highlighter and blend it along your cheekbones to define your features and lend your skin a healthy glow.

6. Line wisely

Take a silver, peach, or nude eye liner and line your waterline (your lower lashline!) and the inner corner. This trick will lift and open up your eyes by attracting more light, making you look awake and well-rested.

7. Paint your puckers

Finally, swipe on a bold lip color to look put together—easiest trick ever!
