Trust us when we say we're still on a high from the ~lewks~ that were served at the 2019 Star Magic Black Magic Halloween party. There were a lot of pop culture references, but I think we can all agree that the couple who stood out that night was Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, who wore matching swan costumes from the film White Chicks. LizQuen went all out, wearing prosthetics, makeup, and wigs. (Yes, even for Enrique!) A+ for effort and dedication, you guys. Their look was so good that Marlon Wayans, the star and writer of the movie, even retweeted pictures of their costumes!
Naturally, we were v intrigued how the entire look was created, so we did a little ~investigation~. We talked to Cari-Dawn Conejero of Tawong-Lipod Creative Studio, the person responsible for LizQuen's transformation into the iconic FBI agents turned blonde rich girls. (ICYDK, Cari-Dawn was the one who did Enrique's Joker makeup last year!)
The entire process to transform the couple into the Wilson sisters took THREE. WHOLE. HOURS. According to Cari-Dawn, the prosthetics were challenging to imitate because they looked so bizarre and unrealistic in the movie. The Wayans brothers had on full-face prosthetics, but for LizQuen, they just decided to go for nose and brow pieces instead. This was done by creating replica casts of their faces.
The goal for Liza was to build up her nose to match the size of Enrique's so that they would look like sisters. Cari-Dawn also flattened Liza's brows to make them look more masculine. As for Enrique, it was the opposite. She made his brows softer and smoother to appear more feminine. It was also a challenge to create their nose pieces because the prosthetics had to have that retokado look with the hard angles. All in all, it took two days to finish sculpting, creating the molds, and curing the final silicone pieces.
After the pieces were blended into their skin, Cari-Dawn made their foundation very pale and did "the opposite of any contouring tutorial you might see on YouTube." Since she didn't use any cheek prosthetics, she used highlighting techniques to make their faces plumper and look like they're full of dermal fillers.
Finally, their Tiffany and Brittany Wilson looks were completed with blonde wigs, thin '90s brows, and overlined lips done by Poison (who happens to be one of the makeup artists in the show Your Face Sounds Familiar!)
WHEW. That was a whole lot of work, but it was super worth it as the couple won the Best Couple Costume Award. We're excited to see what they're cooking up next year! ;)
