Much has been said about the Kylie Lip Kits. From the good, the bad, and the ugly, people have not been shy about airing out their opinions on the products from Kylie Jenner’s first cosmetic line.
Pinay YouTube beauty blogger Anna Cay got herself five different shades of the liquid matte lipsticks in Koko K, Dolce K, Posie K, 22, and Mary Jo K, and uploaded this honest review on her channel:
One of the first—and important, tbh!—things she points out is how “messy” the wands look, compared to other liquid lipsticks. (This can be a nightmare if you’re not that good with applying liquid lipstick, because the product on the wand might get everywhere!) Her overall thoughts were that while they are good products, they’re not THAT different from other lip pencils and liquid lipsticks out in the market. She likes the pigmentation and application of the Lip Kits, but says that longevity is not as fantastic.
The Kylie Lip Kit retails for $29 (approximately P1,360), but online shops in the Philippines resell them anywhere between P2,000 to P3,000. Frankly, that’s a LOT to spend on lippies, considering that you can get the same—if not better—quality from other brands.
Lesson learned? Be smart about buying hyped-up products, because the thing with makeup is you never really know if it will work for you until you get to swatch it on yourself. For lipsticks, you have to factor in things like your lips’ natural color, your undertone, your lips’ natural size (this is SO important), how dry it is, and more.
Not saying that you should ditch Kylie’s Lip Kits totally, because they might just be the liquid lipsticks of your dreams. Just be sure to test one out first and see if it’ll work for you!
