I'm hyper-aware that my T-zone gets shiny by midday, so I'm mindful about using products that will do their very best to control oil. The true test came when I had to ride Angkas (a motorcycle ride-sharing service) to a work event.
(Warning: Long story ahead.)
I did not want to be late. I left the house early (I live in ~the South~), but EDSA had other plans. I was just in Glorietta and my destination, Poblacion, Makati was a few kilometers away. In my head, "But it's just right there?" Taking a car was a big no-no because Makati Ave. traffic was LIT. I decided to try Angkas. I downloaded the app, and I was relieved that the signup process was pretty quick. My ride arrived after five minutes.
It totally slipped my mind that I had to wear a helmet. I had a full face of makeup—the works. I worried that it will all melt off as soon as I got to my destination. But you know, desperate times! I shrugged it off.
When I arrived at the bar, I went straight to the restroom to freshen up. And then I found out that I did not have my makeup bag with me. Feeling defeated, I just dabbed a tissue on my forehead. The only item that could save me was a hair freshening mist. Full disclosure: I always have it in my bag because of impromptu KBBQ dinner dates, LOL!
Since it was an event, there were lots of pictures being taken—for documentation and content creation (do it for the 'gram, y'all). I got DMs saying that I looked fresh, which means that no trace of commuter stress was seen on my face! I felt validated (LOL) and satisfied that my sweatproof makeup products have served me well.
