The Tamad Girl's Guide To Valentine's Day Makeup

Because highlighting, contouring, and airbrushing take way too much time.

Preparing for an evening out is a long beautifying process riddled with multiple procedures that require a meticulous eye and a bit of elbow grease. But since you’re reading this article, you’re probably not willing to undergo the stresses of putting on a full face of makeup, so we'll keep it short and sweet.

These five (sometimes three, sometimes four) steps are all you need for an abbreviated version of the made up face.

Happy Valentine's Day, girls!

 1. Eyebrows are essential.
You know how you love laughing at those celeb pics with their eyebrows erased? Yeah, you don’t want that. Thankfully, K-Palette’s got a fool-proof solution that dispenses translucent pigment from an easy-to-use felt tip pen. Oh, and did I mention you don’t need to blend? Holla!

 2. Balance out your base.
A candle-lit dinner casts the most flattering romantic light, but for those who prefer dating under fluorescent conditions, a bit of grooming is in order. Benefit’s Big Easy is a dream to apply. The whipped consistency blends into your skin in mere seconds while the matte finish allows you to skip the powder and oil-blotting sheets.

3. Mascara is everything.
Your makeup routine can seriously stop at this step if you wanted it to. The easiest way to fluttery, flirty lashes is via Heroine Make’s mascara. Whether you reach for the Long and Curl (packed with plenty of lengthening fibers) or the Volume and Curl variant, the finished product will always result in falsie-type proportions. 4. Put your puckers out there.
Need a little more primping? A bold lip is the easiest way to look like you put in some effort without actually having to do so.  But what color to reach for? Pink if you’re feeling fun and festive, berry if you’re feeling a little sultry, and red if you’re going for something classic.

Method 1: Lipstick

While this requires a teensy bit more effort than, say, Method 2, the result is color that won’t budge. Eating, drinking, and makeout sessions be damned. We like MAC's Ruby Woo (P1,000, available at Rockwell)

Method 2: Stain

Not too keen on coloring within the lines? This stain comes with a doe foot applicator that applies color in one fell sweep. Plus, the forgiving glossy finish is a Godsend to us pasmado types. You have to try Revlon's Colorstay Moisture Stain (P625, available at leading department stores).

5. Convey your look of love with a sultry gaze.
The easiest version of a smoky eye involves but one product: a smudgy eyeliner pencil (Y'all have to try Pixi's Endless Silky Eye Pen, P740,

  • Line your eyes and lay it on thick. Be as messy as you like because we’re blending everything out.
  • With a clean finger (but you can also use a makeup brush!), smudge the heavy line upwards and outwards.
  • Go back in with the eyeliner and line your eyes (top and bottom rims) as you normally would.

That’s it? Yup. Three steps, no muss, no fuss. But please don’t forget mascara. A dark eye without lashes is so not a complete eye.

Completely unrelated to makeup, but also completely essential: Remember to wash your face at the end of the day. This is so important!
