As someone who has acne-prone skin, I prefer to use full coverage liquid foundation over powder because it can conceal my acne and dark spots, and stop my face from getting oily. I always considered powder foundation as just a setting powder but never as the base itself. But when I came across the Vice Cosmetics Duo Finish Foundation, I have to admit, I got curious to try it. It claims to give skin medium to full coverage and has blurring and oil-controlling capabilities. Could this affordable product finally convince me to switch over to powder foundations? Keep reading to find out.
What is the Vice Cosmetics Duo Finish Foundation?
The Vice Cosmetics Duo Finish Foundation is a powder foundation that can be used either wet or dry. It has a buildable formula (medium to full coverage), controls sebum production, and blurs pores and blemishes. The finely milled powder leaves the complexion looking airbrushed. It has SPF25 to protect your skin from UVA and UVB rays.
The Vice Cosmetics Duo Finish Foundation comes in eight shades which suit a variety of Filipina skin tones. The eight shades are: Tisay, Chesa, Putinamez, Kinesa, Moreyna, Shade ni Vice, So Pinay!, and Flawlesa.
The foundation is housed in Vice Cosmetics' signature fuchsia packaging and comes with a sponge and a mirror compact.
How do you use it?
As mentioned above, there are two ways to use the foundation to create different finishes:
- Wet application: Soak the sponge in water and squeeze out the excess liquid. Rub the damp sponge on the foundation and apply it on your skin. This method will result in a full coverage finish.
- Dry application: Simply take the dry sponge and press it on the powder foundation. Apply it on your complexion for a light, natural-looking finish. You can also use it to set your liquid foundation or mattify your face.

Did the Vice Cosmetics Duo Finish Foundation help my skin stay shine-free for 12 hours?
Skin Type: Oily, Sensitive, Acne-Prone
Makeup products used: Vice Cosmetics Duo Finish Foundation in Moreyna, eyebrow gel, cheek tint, lip tint, and powder highlighter
This was my first time to try a powder foundation. As I mentioned earlier, I've always preferred liquid foundation because I used to think powder foundation couldn't cover my dark spots and pimples. Plus, I have oily skin, so I have this fear that powder foundation would just slide off my face and transfer to my clothes.
At 10 a.m., I first applied Vice Cosmetics Duo Finish Foundation in Moreyna with the sponge that came with it. However, the free sponge yielded patchy results so I switched to using my normal beauty sponge. Thankfully, the foundation applied better, and I was surprised that one layer was able to cover most of my marks. The only struggle I encountered was blending the product out, but I believe this was probably because it was my first time to use a powder foundation. Once I got the hang of it, it applied like a dream!
I opted not to use a primer and a setting spray with this foundation because I wanted to properly test how the Vice Cosmetics Duo Foundation would fare on my skin. Initially, I thought its finish looked a bit chalky, but once it settled down, it had a my-skin-but-better effect. My only problem was that it wasn't able to cover the pesky pimple on my cheek. Although, I have accepted the fact that it would be very hard to cover. It was, after all, a large bump—and even my pigmented AF concealers couldn't hide pimples like it.
Since I had a full day planned with my family, I knew I wouldn't have the chance to retouch anytime during the day. It was already hot and humid when I applied my makeup at 10 a.m., and by noon, I was already sweaty. We had lunch at a stuffy shabu-shabu restaurant, so the steam from the hot pots triggered my skin's oil production. As I retrieved an oil-blotting sheet from my bag and pressed it against my T-zone, I was surprised to not find much oil on the sheet. I thought I was seeing things because I couldn't believe it. Did the Vice Cosmetics Duo Finish Foundation really manage to keep my skin oil-free despite the sweat and steam? Amazing.
By around 4 or 5 p.m., the foundation was still visible on my skin (Normally, I have to retouch three hours after applying a product.). I think the foundation also helped my cheek tint stay on my skin.
When 10 p.m. came, I was tired and just wanted to take my makeup off. When I checked in the mirror, there were still faint traces of foundation left on my skin. It didn't look as flawless as it did this morning, but seeing that it stayed on was impressive!
Another thing I loved about this product? It didn't make my skin break out. Having sensitive and acne-prone skin has made me wary of different makeup products because one wrong ingredient can instantly result in my face being covered in acne and rashes. I'm glad it didn't come to that with the Vice Cosmetics Duo Finish Foundation.
Is the Vice Cosmetics Duo Finish Foundation worth buying?
Definitely! It only costs P245 and you get a lot of product in the pan. It's long-wearing, doesn't break your skin out, covers mild acne breakouts and dark marks, and makes your complexion look natural and healthy (not flat). You'll love how compact the packaging is, too—you can take it with you anywhere.
