My Day With Cosmo: How I Prep My Skin Before Wearing A Face Mask

Everyone is required to wear a mask to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. A protective face mask, whether surgical or made of cloth, can still cause friction on the skin which may result in maskne. These are the zits found on the nose bridge, cheeks, and chin—the areas where the face mask usually hits.

To prevent this, it is advised that you apply a soothing cream or gel on the said areas. Personally, I use the A'pieu Madecassoside Cream since it has cica, an ingredient that soothes redness and aids the skin's healing process. I have oily skin, and this product's non-comedogenic formula doesn't clog the pores. I also use a nourishing balm to prevent chapped lips. I also never forget to apply sunscreen to prevent UV rays from damaging my complexion. I bring a face mist in my bag to help cool down my skin. (I use it when I'm in the restroom or car because I would have to take off my face mask.)
