5 Things You Can Do To Heal Dry, Chapped Lips

Chapped, cracked lips are a common problem of many Pinays. The constant flaking and bleeding of the lips are caused by lots of things: Dehydration, weather, and allergic reactions. Whatever the reason may be, one may try to alleviate the pain by taking off the excess skin using their teeth and fingers. This is a huge no-no! Not only will this cause more peeling, but it will also expose the lips to external irritants which might cause infections.

If you want to bring your lips back to its ~healthy~ state, there are gentler remedies to try. Keep on scrolling for some tips:

  1. Apply a lip mask at night.

    Lip masks are a step above your usual balms because they contain more emollient and hydrating ingredients. Apply a thin layer of lip mask at night, so you can wake up with softer lips in the morning!

  2. Invest in a humidifier.

    If you're extra serious about wanting to restore your lips to a healthier state, invest in a humidifier. It works to provide more moisture to the air, providing relief for your pout and skin. You may also try mixing in some essential oils to see what works best for you.

  3. Exfoliate your pout using gentle sugar scrubs.

    Regular exfoliation can help reduce the flakes, but be sure not to overdo it because you might irritate your lips. You may try a ~gentle~ sugar scrub that won't create abrasions on your pout.

  4. Hydrate regularly.

    Dehydration is one of the main causes of chapped lips, so make sure to always have a water bottle on hand to take sips from throughout the day.

  5. Swipe on a lip balm with SPF.

    Frequent exposure to the sun can also cause chapped lips. To remedy this. use a balm infused with SPF to give your lips protection.
