5 Beauty Queens Who Love to Flaunt Their Tattoos
Aside from her powerful walk and wit, one eye-catching detail of Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez is her statement armband tattoo.
In a TV show interview, Beatrice revealed that she got it on her 23rd birthday. According to her, an armband tattoo is known to symbolize "death," but she chose to give it a different take by making it a symbol for a new chapter in her life. "It [represents] the end of my being a 'girl'," she said, while the cherry blossom detail on the design represents her transition to womanhood.ADVERTISMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓
Before hopping on the plane to Israel for Miss Universe 2021, Beatrice added three more tattoos on her fingers. The beauty queen has yet to reveal their meaning, but her tattoo artist Boots Brandon did say it was a symbol for something in the beauty queen's life.CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓watch now
Beatrice's fellow MUPH 2021 contestant and content creator Ayn Bernos was also one of the beauty queens who showed off her tattoo during the competition. Hers is placed on her left shoulder, and features watercolor-style art colored green and red. According to Ayn, the design of her tatt allows it only be seen in certain lighting. What a cool illusion!
Ayn and other MUPH candidates also promised to get a tattoo inspired by Beatrice should she make it to Miss Universe's top five—and she did! For her ink, Ayn got a minimalist cherry blossom tattoo on her inner arm. Cherry blossoms represent beauty and transience which will remind you to savor each moment in your life.ADVERTISMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓
Our Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi has perhaps the biggest tattoo collection out of everyone on this list. She has inks on her wrist, thumbs, bikini line, forearm, chest, and her thigh! The Fil-Italian beauty certainly proves that tattoos are no matter if you deserve the crown!
In an exclusive interview with Preview, she revealed that each one of her tatts hold a deep meaning to it. For example, to honor her late father, she placed his initials on the side of her heart. She also has a feather tattoo on her collarbone to represent him as her guardian angel. On her bikini line is her favorite flower, the forget-me-not, which is a symbol for the people who are no longer with her.ADVERTISMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓
That's not all. Celeste's arm is also adorned with minimalist tattoos. The inks on her thumbs honor her heritage: Her left thumb indicates “half Filipina”, while on her right it says “made in Italy.” Proceeding to her right arm, the beauty queen sports a Viking quote which is also her personal motto. It reads, “If you want change, you have to invite chaos.” Last but not the least, on the other side of her arm is an ink of her cute dog, Dolce.
For her bigger tattoos, Celeste has a palm tree design on her thigh to remind her of an unforgettable trip she had in Siargao. Lastly, an arrow tattoo with a diamond on her chest. “It symbolizes beauty and as an arrow you always have to move forward no matter what,” says Celeste.ADVERTISMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓
Like Celeste, MUPH 2021 first runner-up Maureen Wroblewitz also has a growing collection of tattoos. She has a small sun tattoo behind her ear, flowers on each side of her rib, and another on her inner arm which is an aster, the birth flower of her dad. Maureen is also a cat lover, so she decided to ink images of her cats on her leg. Another tattoo we can't help swooning over is the moon ink on her nape! We assume that it represents the song Buwan by her ex-boyfriend, JK Labajo, because Maureen also starred in its music video!ADVERTISMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓
Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters loves to keep her tattoos small and simple. She has a minimal crown design on her left arm (presumably a symbol for her pageant journey), and on the back is what seems to be a geometrical art of the sun and the moon. Her right arm also holds several tattoos: a face of a bulldog on the inner arm, a delicate palm tree ink and a wave tattoo on her elbow to represent her love for island life.ADVERTISMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓ADVERTISMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓
