Is there something in the water? Or is it the curse of the Year of the Red Fire Monkey? Whatever is making It couples head to splitsville, we’re praying it goes away, stat!
1. Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris
They made us believe for a brief moment—15 months, to be exact—na #MayForever. What we know so far: nobody cheated, they simply differed in personalities and lifestyles, the split was amicable and drama-free, and the two remain good friends. Amidst the rumors and people joking that a hit Taylor Swift song is in the works, Calvin Harris tweeted, “The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect.” The "22" singer immediately retweeted the post. We really thought he was the one for you, Tay.
2. Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama
Because it’s not official until it’s Instagram official, Demi, 23, and Wilmer, 36, took to their respective accounts to announce their split. “After almost 6 loving and wonderful years together, we have decided to end our relationship,” the joint message said. “This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us, but we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends. We will always be supportive of one another. Thank you to everyone who has offered us kindness and support over the years. With only love, Wilmer & Demi.” For fans, the two seemed like a perfect match. They started dating when Demi was only 18, soon after she entered rehab for bulimia, bipolar disorder, and addiction, and Wilmer helped her get through it all.
3. Amber Heard and Johnny Depp
What’s more upsetting than the split of this once seemingly great couple is the domestic abuse issues that the 30-year-old actress has filed against her 52-year-old ex. As the evidences increase, more friends and loved ones are throwing their support for each opposing side, turning this into a media circus and a sad state of affairs.
In a classic game of “Are they or aren’t they?” Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik’s fans have been on their toes for days. After E! News first reported the couple’s split on June 3, there have been hints of reconciliation, including a cryptic answer she gave Elle Magazine just days after the split. When asked what she preferred to do on a night out, she replied, “Cook. Paint. Play with my dog. Hang out with my boyfriend. Watch movies.” She intentionally did not refer to Zayn by name, but fans are hanging on to this as a sign that they’re still together and simply going through a rough patch. Another cryptic clue: The model tweeted, [sic] “haha some of you get yourselves so worked up. Focus your time and energy on your own life.” Please end our misery and just spill the truth, G! Kayo pa ba?!
5. Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman
In April, Drew announced her plans to divorce her husband of four years, actor Will Kopelman. The two seemed headed to forever when they got married in 2012 and had two children—Olive, 3, and Frankie, 1. “Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family,” the pair announced in a statement to People on April 2. “Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on. Our children are our universe, and we look forward to living the rest of our lives with them as the first priority.”
6. Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne
Et tu, Sharon and Ozzy? After more than 33 years of marriage, the Black Sabbath front man is calling it quits with his wife. “I think I’m the strongest I’ve ever been right now, with everything that's going on in my life,” 63-year-old Sharon said in her CBS show, The Talk. “I feel it.” In true Osbourne fashion, their daughter Kelly tweeted her disdain for her 67-year-old father’s alleged mistress, a celebrity hairstylist who is rumored to have caused her parents’ split. [sic] “Anyone looking for cheap chunky LOW-light and blow out and a b---j—call…” Kelly wrote before posting the mistress’ supposed phone number, which has since been disconnected. Oh no, what’s happening to our favorite rock royalty family?
