Aga Muhlach Remembers His Tita Amalia Fuentes In A Moving Instagram Post

'You were an inspiration. You treated me like your son.'

Aga Muhlach just dedicated his latest Instagram post to his aunt, actress Amalia Fuentes, who passed away today, October 5. She was 79 years old. 

ICYDK, Amalia was touted to be the "Elizabeth Taylor of the Philippines." She was a huge star in the '60s and in the '70s. 

Aga also remembered in the IG post his father Alvaro "Cheng" Muhlach (who passed away due to cardiac arrest in 2018), mother Anita Aquino (who died in 2007 because of lung cancer), and cousin, actress Liezl Martinez (who succumbed to breast cancer in 2015). Amalia is the sister of his father and the mother of Liezl. 

Aga expressed his grief with his tita's loss, remembering their memories together, talking about how much she was an inspiration to him, and thanking her for treating him like a son.

"You started it all for us," Aga Muhlach wrote. "You have taught me so much in life. You were an inspiration. You treated me like your son. I’m at a loss for words. Go rest now. I know for sure that you are the happiest right now for you are at peace and most especially, reunited with Ate Liezl. My growing up years were spent with you, Tita. All my weekends, summer vacations, our trips to Baguio, in Tali, in the States. Lahat na... Huling paalam, Tita. Rest In Peace. You are with our creator now. Rest in HIS embrace. My dad, my mom, you (my second mom), Ate Liezl, who’s always been a sister to me. I miss you all. I will miss you all forever."

In a DZMM interview, Aga's cousin, actor Niño Muhlach, revealed that Amalia had been paralyzed and bedridden for the last four years after suffering a heart attack.

Aga is currently working on the Filipino remake of the 2013 Korean comedy-drama Miracle In Cell No. 7, where he plays a mentally challenged man who is wrongfully imprisoned. His cellmates help smuggle his daughter into jail so he can see her.

Aga also has a movie coming out with Alice Dixson entitled Nuuk. It's included in the 5th Danish Film Festival, which runs from October 9 to 13 at the Shangri-La Plaza. The psycho-thriller was filmed in Greenland, the capital of the Kingdom of Denmark. It's also coming out in theaters on November 6.
