Aljur Abrenica and Kylie Padilla's dreamy wedding on December 11, 2019 was a beautiful celebration where their immediate families, despite previous conflicts, were in complete attendance. It can be recalled that Kylie and her dad Robin Padilla used to have an estranged relationship. In an interview on Pep.ph, Kylie took the blame for the conflict with her father: "'Yung kasal, hindi pa sa ngayon talaga.
Aljur and Kylie, who’ve been a couple since 2011, share a one-year-old son Alas and have been living together ever since he was born. While they could have been content with their set-up, Aljur shared the story behind upping their relationship to marriage status. "Medyo rebelde kami. Ibig ko sabihin, 'Bakit pa tayo magpapakasal, magkasama naman tayo, 'yon ang importante …may mga ganyan," he premised his confession in an interview with ABS-CBN's Magandang Buhay.
Aside from having role models to inspire them to take their relationship to the next level, they also reflected on how their relationship progressed over the years. Aljur narrates, "Nagre-reflect kami ni Kylie, nasabi namin, 'Hindi lahat 'to nangyari nang basta-basta. May guidance 'to.' Napag-alaman namin na gina-guide kami ng Panginoon."
This line of thinking piqued his interest in the rituals involved in a wedding ceremony, which made him finally decide on having a wedding. Tapos, magsasama-sama yung buong pamilya. Magkaka-kila-kilala sila. So nag-decide kami magpakasal."
