In the past, Angelica Panganiban has expressed her desire to retire from starring in teleseryes. According to ABS-CBN News, Playhouse (2018) was supposed to be Angelica's last. But two big events changed her mind: the COVID-19 pandemic and the denial of the ABS-CBN franchise renewal. For Angelica, it was insensitive to decline work when so many people have lost their jobs because of the two same life-changing events. She has stated, "Sino ba naman ako para tumanggi sa trabaho samantalang ang dami-daming nanghihingi ng trabaho, 'di ba?"
Walang Hanggang Paalam aired its last episode yesterday, April 16, 2021. And with that, Angelica wants to take a much-deserved break after nearly 30 years in the business. She was quoted as stating, "Siguro ngayon, ganun pa rin ang decision ko. Siguro kasi for almost 30 years, ito naman yung ginawa ko. Sa kalahati ng buhay ko, gusto ko ring ibigay sa sarili ko, deserve ko naman din sigurong magpahinga pagdating sa paggawa ng teleserye."
Yesterday, she penned a long goodbye as her character Celine Delgano on Instagram. She wrote, in part, "Katulad ng lahat ng bagay, meron itong katapusan. At hanggang dito na lang po kami. Kahit mahirap magpaalam, ito ay kailangan. Paalam mula kay Celine Delgado."
Note: This doesn't mean we won't be seeing her on any screen, ever. Angelica has film projects lined up. Plus, she can still see herself taking on a teleserye in the far future, provided she really, really wants the role. She clarifies, "Ayaw kong magsalita nang tapos, pero 'di ba, malay mo dumating, 20 years from now, mayroon akong role na hindi ko talaga ma-resist and kumbaga kaya kong lunukin yung pride ko at yung paninindigan ko."
