Yup, Arci Munoz and JM De Guzman totally fooled us all into believing that they were ~together~. The longtime BFFs sparked romance rumors yesterday, April 4, when Arci posted a video clip of them in Boracay with Arci's whole family. In the snippet, cute couple-y snaps of them were first shown, then next thing we saw was JM handing a bouquet of roses to Arci and asking if he can court her!
"Just really glad that the whole family was able to witness this beautiful moment," Arci wrote on Instagram and said to look forward to it on her vlog. Well, we just watched the vlog, aaaand NOPE, there is nothing going on between them. Here's how it played out:
While the whole family hangs by the shoreline, JM calls out to Arci using her real name, Ramona, which leaves her SHOOK.

"Matagal na tayong mag-best friend pero pwede ba manligaw?" JM asks while whipping out the flowers.
Arci, the true bestie that she is, takes the flowers and proceeds to fake kick him. HAHAHA!
And, surprise, surprise, she then hands the flowers to her brother Manolet, who has a surprise of his own…

It wasn't the happy ending we were hoping for but, hey, it's great to see Arci and JM grow in their ~friendship~ nonetheless! ICYDK, the two go waaay back as college kids in the 2000s where they met as Theatre Arts students in UP Diliman. Speaking in an interview last year, Arci revealed that the reason why the two never got together as simple: They were best friends and nothing more. "Kasi best friend ko eh. Parang ang hirap kung pupunta kami sa ganung direksyon, ang hirap na ibalik na ang ganitong klaseng relationship namin as friends. Best friend ko ito eh," she said. "Sobrang comfortable kay JM. Parang wala akong maitatago sa kanya. Kapag masama ang loob ko, siguro siya ang unang taong tatawagan ko bukod sa pamilya ko," she said.
JM, on his part, gushed about the quality he loves and appreciates the most about Arci: "Prangka po siya sa akin. Kung magsalita siya, diretso sa puso. Siguro sa pagkakilala niya sa akin, nase-sense na niya kung bad trip ako kahit malayo pa ako. Nandiyan siya lagi para i-lead ako pabalik sa positibo."
