Remember the origin story of Ariana Grande’s latest hit single, “7 Rings?” The song was inspired by a shopping spree at Tiffany’s, where she bought diamond rings for six of her friends. It’s said to be just after her breakup with ex-fiancé Pete Davidson (“Wearing a ring, but ain't gon' be no ‘Mrs.’ / Bought matching diamonds for six of my bitches”).
Now, Ari has added another diamond to the collection. In between shooting scenes for the “7 Rings” music video, she gives director Hannah Lux Davis a Tiffany ring. “It’s eight rings now,” she says with a giggle in the behind-the-scenes video. The director can’t quite believe it. “Are we for real? I’m so overwhelmed. I’m freaking out right now.”
OMG, can you imagine receiving that little blue box from Ari? Hannah is not just the director of “7 Rings”—she and Ari have been friends and collaborators for years, working on music videos such as “Thank U, Next,” “Breathin,” and “Into You.” And as Ari says in her latest hit, “I'd rather spoil all my friends with my riches.”
