Stop what you're doing: Ariana Grande has reportedly been cast in a new Netflix film called Prom. It's a reworking of the Tony-award winning musical The Prom, adapted by American Horror Story's Ryan Murphy.
The story follows two Broadway stars (played by Meryl Streep and James Corden) who get involved in championing LGBTQ+ rights in a school in Indiana. The "Thank U, Next" queen is apparently playing Alyssa, the popular girl in school, as well as producing the soundtrack alongside Ryan and her manager, Scooter Braun.
According to Deadline, Prom is set to begin production this December and should be on Netflix by autumn 2020. Just over a year to wait, then.
While there's been no word from Ariana Grande yet, James Corden took to Twitter to express his enthusiasm. "Excited to be part of this musical, coming to @netflix next year x," he wrote.
This is just one of five projects Ryan Murphy has been signed to bring to Netflix in the next year or so. This September, The Politician, a TV show which he co-wrote with Brad Falfchuk, is arriving on the screen. It stars Gwyneth Paltrow and is billed as a dark comedy.
So many exciting new things to watch, so little time.
