Star Cinema's latest film, Last Night (starring Toni Gonzaga and Piolo Pascual), received rave reviews largely because of its unorthodox story and screenplay. The film's screenwriter, actress Bela Padilla, is still on a high after having her latest work come out in cinemas just this week.
On Instagram, the award-winning actress, writer, and film producer expressed gratitude to people who joined her in giving a voice to characters she's long been dreaming to come to life. In the caption, she wrote, "How is it possible that there is life where there wasn't? It isn't sinking in yet, that the words now have voices. And two extremely genuine ones, too. Moved around by such a curious yet brilliant mind."
But among the many praises for the film—from the movie's lead stars to satisfied moviegoers—Bela was most grateful to the kind words she received from her best friends, Dani Barretto and Yassi Pressman. In a heartfelt message, she took to Instagram to show how much she appreciated her BFFs in her journey to finishing the story and script for the romantic movie, Last Night.
In a long emotional letter, she wrote, "Of all the beautiful things I've read about Last Night (thank you po!), these two will mean the most to me. I've been so emotional today because everything made sense. All the sleepless nights, taping, shooting, and working non-stop paid off today because I was given something I didn't even dare dream of (I'm sorry but this is such a big deal to me) and these two got me through all of those days."
She added, "Thank you, Yassi and Dani (and now Josh and Kimmy) for being the best people to be around. All my stories wouldn't move if I had nobody to tell them to. The characters wouldn't talk if I didn't inject the people I love into them and they both know I use them in my stories. They both knew the whole story of Last Night before I even pitched it. But they both watched it and felt it the same way I did. As if they were learning about it for the first time. Thank you both for that."
Apart from writing the script for Last Night, Bela has previously written the screenplay for Luck at First Sight and 10,000 Hours, and produced Camp Sawi. Last Night is now showing in cinemas nationwide.
