Bela Padilla has been making our hearts burst this past week with all the good deeds she's been doing in light of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon. To fight the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), work is suspended, as well as mass transport facilities, a curfew is imposed in several cities, and a strict home quarantine is enforced on everyone. This has greatly affected the livelihoods of our Metro Manila vendors, which Bela stressed upon when she opened an account for donations for them earlier this week. And she's been transparent from the start on how she will be using the monetary donations: to buy food for the vendors.
The Kapamilya actress was successful in reaching her target of P1 million—and even surpassed it! She raised a total of P3.3 million and announced the good news yesterday, March 18.
Bela gave more updates on Twitter, saying that she spent the day organizing the distribution of the donations with the help of Matteo Guidicelli, celebrity manager Pia Campos, local government units, and private companies, among others.
Today, March 19, will be the first day of distribution, with three batches rolling out.
Stay strong and healthy, Bela! And it goes without saying, but, THANK YOU.
