If you're worrying about Bella Hadid's emotional state after seeing Selena Gomez and Bella's ex, The Weeknd getting smoochy at the Met Gala, erm, don't. Bella Hadid is fine, you guys. She's FINE.
In a chat with Grazia, Bella revealed that she's not at all hung up on The Weeknd, instead choosing to focus on herself. And for that, we applaud her. It's fucking great to have alone time that you truly enjoy, rather than sinking into a post-breakup splump involving nachos and piles of blankets (No, I'm not talking from personal experience. Shh).
"I'm focused on myself," said Bella. "It's like I'm finally getting to the point where I can just think about what I want to do and the places I want to go. I want to be as independent as possible and worry about myself rather than anyone else."
YES TO THAT.
Considering Bella's just 20 years old, it's very wise for her to take some time out from dating and focus on her career and herself—especially considering her ex's new relationship is being made increasingly public.
Bella previously told Teen Vogue that she reckons she'll "always love" The Weeknd, adding that the split was her first proper breakup.
"I'll always respect him, and I'll always love him," she said. "Sometimes you want to be sad about it or handle it differently, but at the end of the day, you never want to burn a bridge that you've fought so hard to build."
Well said. Here's hoping Bella's able to continue to prioritize herself over worrying about dating—if only to motivate the rest of us singletons who don't also happen to be mega successful models to do the same.
