These 10 Horror Comedy Movies Will Make You Laugh AND Scream

If you're the kind of person who watches scary movies and walks away wishing they were just a little bit more terrifying... it's probably time for you to get into horror comedies. I know that doesn't sound like a real solution, but hear me out. Just as you're comfortably cracking up at some silly little joke, a serial killer pops out of nowhere and murders one of your favorite characters. You weren't expecting the scare, so it's 10 times worse than a normal one.

Here are 10 of the best horror comedies of all time, from the classics to the parodies they inspired. Whether you're into jump-scares, gore, or zombies, there is truly something on here for everyone.

1. Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice invented funny-scary, and this is not up for debate. Also, young Alec Baldwin is the ghost hottie of all of our dreams. That is all.

2. Scream

Scream is a campy cult classic. This iconic slasher has inspired tons of horror comedy films since. It's packed with so many scary movie tropes, that you could notice something new every time you watch. (Did you catch that Nightmare On Elm Street music at the beginning of the trailer?)

3. Jennifer's Body

Jennifer (Megan Fox) is a high school girl who gets possessed by a demon and starts to kill boys. I know that doesn't sound very funny... but, it is!

4. Warm Bodies

If there was an award for cutest zombie movie, Warm Bodies would win. It's the hilarious, but still pretty sweet story of a guy who becomes un-undead when he gets the hots for a human girl.

5. Krampus

Ugh, don't you hate when you accidentally summon a demonic force/goat because you weren't hyped enough for Christmas?

6. Scary Movie

Plot spoiler: Scary Movie is not ACTUALLY a scary movie. It's a parody of scary movies. (Like Scream.) TBH, the spookiest thing about this series is that there are five of these movies.

7. Zombieland

If you're ever in a bad mood... just think about the fact that we really live in a world where Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Bill Murray all appeared in a zombie movie with a plotline about a guy trying to track down the last Twinkie in America.

8. Shaun Of The Dead

Shaun Of The Dead is the horror comedy that will make you think twice before saying that you feel like "such a zombie" when you need another coffee around 3 p.m.

9. What We Do In The Shadows

If you feel that The Twilight Saga falsely glamorized vampires, you should probably watch What We Do In The Shadows. It's a (fake) documentary about three blood-sucking roommates who live a surprisingly normal life together.

10. The Cabin In The Woods

There is actually a lot of debate around what genre to label The Cabin In The Woods. It's definitely scary... but it's also kind of funny, and considered a deconstruction of the horror genre. Either way, it has Chris Hemsworth in it, so it's worth a watch.
