There are a lot of things to look forward to in 2020: a new Halsey album, the US presidential election, and plenty of new movies that will be coming out through the year. More specifically, though, tons of romantic comedies are dropping, and they sound SO good. Have your calendars ready, because here are the best rom-coms that will hit theaters (or Netflix) in the upcoming year.

To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You

Because honestly, who doesn't want more of Lara Jean (Lana Condor) and Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo)?! After a wait that felt like forever (but was really less than two years), this sequel will make it to Netflix on February 12, 2020—and yes, a third movie is already on its way. But this time, Lara Jean has an important decision to make, because John Ambrose McLaren (Jordan Fisher) is back in her life, so what will that mean for her and Peter?

Legally Blonde 3

Although most of the details are being kept under wraps—for now, at least—Reese Witherspoon herself has confirmed that Legally Blonde 3 will hit theaters sometime in 2020. Being that the first two movies in the series set the standards for 2000s rom-coms, the third movie has a lot to live up to.

The Lovebirds

In The Lovebirds, Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani star as a couple who's about to break up, but end up in the middle of their very own murder mystery. From the description (and the casting) alone, it sounds like this movie will be an instant hit when it hits theaters on April 3, 2020.

Barb & Star Go To Vista Del Mar

Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo have written and starred in Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar, which is about two BFFs who go on a vacation and end up in some pretty crazy situations—including escaping a villain who wants to kill everyone in Vista Del Mar. The movie is out July 31, 2020, and also stars Jamie Dornan, Damon Wayons Jr., and Wendi McLendon Covey.

The Prom

Based on the musical of the same name, The Prom is about Broadway stars who find out about a high schooler who gets backlash for wanting to bring her girlfriend to the big dance. It hits Netflix sometime in 2020, and has an all-star cast, including Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, James Corden, Ariana DeBose, Kerry Washington, Andrew Rannells, Awkwafina, and Jo Ellen Pellman.

Marry Me

In Marry Me, Jennifer Lopez is a pop star who's about to marry her love at Madison Square Garden…only to find out that he's been cheating on her. Instead, she picks a guy in the audience at random (played by Owen Wilson) to marry instead, and the movie is about everything that comes after. It's out sometime in 2020, and The Wedding Planner is already shaking.

Emma

Ready for another take on Jane Austen's classic, Emma? This brand new film adaptation about finding love and navigating social class is out February 21, 2020, and stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Johnny Flynn, Bill Nighy, and Mia Goth.
