ICYMI, Sarah Geronimo and Matteo Guidicelli are engaged! The whole PH celebrated the couple's milestone when they announced it last week through Matteo's Instagram post. The news came as a surprise to many netizens as the the two have been quite private about their relationship. Matteo's younger brother Paolo also announced in a now-deleted Instagram Story that they have been engaged for a year now and no one else knew! Let's take a peek into what they allow us to view via Matteo's IG, and see what more we can make of it.
It should be noted that Sarah has an IG account BUT only posts about her career updates and projects, meaning there are zero photos revealing her personal life. For a singer and an actress of her stature to not share any personal photos tells us two things: One, she chooses to compartmentalize her private life and her public life. Two, she doesn't need the extra affirmation and attention from fans on social media. So being one half of the Sarah-Matteo couple, she already has a heavy influence on the tone of the relationship—private, at their own pace, away from the peering eyes of the public.
Sarah And Matteo Couple Photos
For such a private couple, they can't seem to get their hands off each other. At least that's what the very few couple photos we see on Matteo's IG show us. This certainly tells us that ~touch~ is their love language. This beach photo shows their bodies very close to each other with hands seemingly intertwined with each other.
In this ABS-CBN Ball photo, Matteo puts his arms and upper right torso behind and around Sarah's back protectively. And Sarah lovingly welcomes it by meeting Matteo's right hand with her free hand.
On their engagement announcement post, Sarah humorously strangles Matteo to make fun of the connotation of marriage as "getting tied down." The contrast of this light and humorous announcement with other more romantic and heartwarming posts seem to prove that the engagement may not have been recent and not a surprise to the bride-to-be. Still, it shows us that Matteo has both hands holding Sarah's upper and lower arm, almost seemingly wanting to support her as she strangles him.
Matteo seems very expressive in words, another love language, as well. His posts would say "love" repeatedly, which seems to be a term of endearment between the two. He'd say "I love you, my love," "I love you very much" and "nothing can stop me from loving you." He also graces Sarah with words of affirmation like "You are the most beautiful woman to ever cross my life" and "Super proud of you. By the way, perfect Italian."
This concert photo shows us an intimate moment in a very public event where Matteo bows down, seemingly about to plant a kiss on Sarah's forehead. Sarah is seen closing her eyes, grinning widely, almost like she knows there's a surprise coming her way.
Sarah And Matteo With Family And Friends
In this photo, Matteo captions "best weekend" on a photo with his arms around Sarah and his younger brother Paolo. They were both dressed very casually with Sarah wearing very little to no makeup. This shows how comfortable they are with each other, not needing to look one's best to have the best time.
Here, Sarah seems to be in the spotlight with Matteo looking on from the background. This illustrates quite literally how Matteo is willing to be in the background, admiring Sarah's beauty, which he refers to as his "happy place."
These two photos with friends and family show the opposite of the previous photo, where Sarah seems to be the one supporting Matteo in the background and letting him shine. These clearly demonstrate how supportive they are of each other, fading from the limelight very willingly. It takes two secure and mature individuals to achieve this kind of dynamic.
The caption "My love, I flew today" shows that in the best of moments, it is still Sarah he thinks of. Matteo is aware that his risky endeavor is quite stressful for his family and girlfriend, and he is grateful that despite this, they are supportive of him doing what he loves. It sounds like a healthy way of letting each other blossom without the need to be prohibitive and smothering.
They say that couples who feel the need to post everything they do and shout out to everyone how they love each other are most insecure about their relationships. There is a need for other people's affirmation and validation to compensate for the lack of what they feel within. If this was the test of security in one's relationship, Sarah and Matteo definitely pass with flying colors.
