A week after debuting the second “ON” music video, BTS surprised fans with a new music video for “Black Swan” late last night, March 4. It’s the second music video for the song, following the MV that featured the MN Dance Company from Slovenia.
Here, the K-pop group takes center stage at what seems to be the Los Angeles Theatre. Amid the extravagant, Baroque-inspired interiors, the seven members explored the concept of duality through dance and shadow play:
Fans pointed out that it was like Peter Pan playing with his shadow:
They also caught references to the Black Swan film starring Natalie Portman:
After recovering from the shock of the surprise drop, fans went sleuthing and connected the video to the black swan theory. It describes “outlier” events that come as a surprise, cause extreme impact, and are rationalized after the fact.
As of this writing, the music video has reached over 10 million views!
