BTS continues to make headlines all over the world. Yesterday, the BRIT Awards announced on Twitter that BTS' single "Dynamite" is getting a gold certification in the United Kingdom. This means that the song has sold a whopping 400,000 units in the region.
"Dynamite" was only released as a single last year, on August 21, 2020. For it to have sold 400,000 units in five months (or, to put into better perspective, something like 80,000 units a month for five months), is beyond amazing.
According to Soompi, BTS is the first (and, so far, only) Korean group with a gold single in the UK. It adds that BTS is "the only Korean artist with gold albums" in South Korea, thanks to their collections Love Yourself: Answer (2018) and Map of the Soul: Persona (2019).
BTS got their first Grammy Award nomination for "Dynamite" last year, on November 25, 2020. They'll be contending against big names like Taylor Swift with Bon Iver (for "exile") and Lady Gaga with Ariana Grande (for "Rain On Me") for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. The awarding ceremony will take place on March 14 (US time).
