Hello, ARMY! Quick question: What made you fall in love with BTS? For me, it was their song "Run" that had me lining up at 6 a.m. just to score tickets to their concert. I have always admired the group for releasing songs that you can resonate with—from power anthems about underdogs to tracks with the concept of self-love. And then there are those songs that talk about friendship: Once you listen to them and search for their meaning, it won't be long before you start sending a thank you message to your chingus.
Curious what they are? We rounded up seven BTS songs about friendship that will touch your heart:
Ah, this Jimin and V duet. If you're new to the fandom, these two BTS members are of the same age (which means they don't have to use honorifics—a part of South Korea's culture) and that's one of the many reasons why they're so compatible. "Friends" is an upbeat ode to their long-lasting friendship, where they reminisce about their trainee days and describe each other as soulmates.
P.S: They also mentioned their hilarious fight over dumplings in this song!
Hello, my alien
We are each other’s mystery
Is that why it’s even more special?
2. "Spring Day"
Prepare your tissues, ARMY—this track is GUARANTEED to make you cry once you discover its meaning. "Spring Day" is one of my all-time favorites and it never fails to give me the goosebumps with its lyrics that highlight the pain in yearning. There are theories saying it's about the tragic Sewol Ferry disaster and that made my heart ache even more. Like what the title suggests, "Spring Day" is a reminder that the winter season won't last forever and spring will eventually come.
You know it all
You’re my best friend
The morning will come again
No darkness, no season is eternal
3. "Good Day"
BTS' Japanese tracks are also worth adding to your playlist and "Good Day" in particular is such a feel-good song. Here, the boys are like your BFFs who stick with you through thick and thin, despite your differences. It's also as relatable as it can be, with BTS mentioning things that friends would usually do (like having arguments and making up with each other ASAP). Play this bop once you wake up in the morning and you'll surely have a ~good day.~
You can depend on me
You can say "it's hard" to me
You can lean on me
4. "A Supplementary Story: You Never Walk Alone"
Whenever you feel like the world is against you, listen to "A Supplementary Story: You Never Walk Alone." It's like a warm, reassuring hug, telling you that there will always be that one friend who understands. And in this case, that someone is BTS. There are parts where they talk about flying high and IDK about you, but that's such a genius reference to their other song, "Wings."
I want to fly though I have no wings
But your hands become my wings
I want to forget the dark and lonely things
Together with you
5. "We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal"
When this track was released last year, the entire ARMY was found sobbing. "We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal" is a beautiful description of how BTS struggled when they made their debut, including the sleepless nights spent practicing and the endless criticisms they received. But they remained strong and continued dreaming until they were recognized—and they did all of these together. This number does not just symbolize their genuine friendship but is also a heartfelt dedication to their fans who believe in them.
I will never stop again
For we are together here
Tell me your every story
Tell me why you don’t stop this
Tell me why you still walkin'
Walkin’ with us
Picture this: You're on your way home with your friends just when the sun is about to set. You play "Mikrokosmos" on Spotify, and you all sing "Shine, dream, smile" at the top of your lungs. Your heart is full because you're surrounded by people who light up your life and believe that you can all shine together. "Mikrokosmos" can be interpreted in different ways but the concept of having a solid group of friends who know you on a deeper level is probably the best.
You got me
I breathe while looking at you
I got you
Inside those pitch-black nights
7. "Magic Shop"
Don't you just feel relieved when you realize that there's a person who's willing to open their door for you without asking any question? Adapted from the book A Neurosurgeon’s Quest To Discover The Mysteries Of The Brain And The Secrets Of The Heart by James R. Doty, MD, "Magic Shop" is a consoling song about moving forward and helping others heal their wounds—just like what a true friend would do.
But looking back on it now, truthfully
I feel like it’s not true that I wanted to be the best
I wanted to become your comfort and move your heart
I want to take away your sadness and pain
