Actors portraying roles younger (or older!) than their real ages is a common thing in showbiz. Too common, in fact, that we often don't notice that our favorite characters were actually played by stars who are much older. You can chalk it up to their youthful looks, A+ acting chops, or top-tier production tricks, but ICYDK, these stars portrayed iconic pop culture characters who are much younger than them IRL:

1. Noah Centineo in To All The Boys I've Loved Before

The internet's boyfriend Peter Kavinsky was a 16-year-old high schooler in the movie. The role was played by Noah Centineo who was 22 when the film premiered on Netflix.

2. Rachel McAdams in Mean Girls

High school queen bee and resident mean girl Regina George was portrayed by Rachel McAdams when she was around 25 years old when the film was released in 2004.

3. Jennifer Lawrence in Hunger Games

Katniss Everdeen was 16 years old during the first movie of the Hunger Games trilogy. Jennifer Lawrence, who brought the character to life, was around 22 years old at the time the film came out.


4. Emilia Clarke in Game Of Thrones

Emilia Clarke played the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen, in the HBO series Game Of ThronesDaenerys was supposedly only 17 years old during the first season of the show. Emilia was around 24 years old then.

The majority of the main cast of Riverdale is still in high school, but they're portrayed by actors and actresses in their twenties. Most notably Jughead Jones, played by 28-year-old Cole Sprouse. He was 24 when he first portrayed the role of Jughead.

Although there's debate surrounding the exact age of Emily Cooper in Emily In Paris, Netflix simply describes her as a twenty-something, while Lily Collins originally estimated her age to be around 22 years old (which sounds unrealistic because completing a master's degree and being trusted to take on your boss' job at age 22???). Lily was actually 31 years old when she portrayed the main character of the Netflix series.
