CLC's Sorn Apologizes For Controversial Posts That Trended Worldwide

Thai singer Sorn from K-pop group CLC has issued an apology for her controversial Instagram posts. She trended on Twitter because of an IG Story where she posed with a friend wearing an African-American caricature mask, according to Allkpop.

When netizens called out Sorn for the “racist” mask, she posted on IG Story, “Sometimes, some people just gotta chill. I’m not stupid.”

Sorn has deleted both IG Stories, and she issued an apology today, December 20. “I sincerely apologize for my actions. Specifically, I am sorry for being culturally insensitive. In no way was I trying to intentionally offend anyone. In hindsight, I am realizing how this photo could have offended others. I am genuinely sorry and will reflect on my mistakes.”

She said, “I am not asking for anyone’s forgiveness, but I am writing this message to say that I know how much people are hurt by the picture I posted last night. I understand that people are allowed to feel, and I am in no way expecting the people I offended to forgive me. Sorry, guys, and I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again in the future.”

Addressing CLC fans, Sorn said, “Sorry for disappointing you, Cheshire.”

Sorn, whose full name is Chonnasorn Sajakul, was one of the first members of CLC when the girl group debuted in 2015. CLC released the EP No.1 earlier this year.
