The K-drama (or as what we titas used to call it, Koreanovela), Coffee Prince, made waves in the television industry in 2007, with its kilig-worthy charm. After 13 years, fans still can’t get enough of it, and yes, like you, we've streamed it on Netflix recently, too. Lol.
After the super exciting news about the Coffee Prince cast’s reunion in an upcoming MBC documentary (they revisited a café from the drama’s scene!), a wave of nostalgia hit you. And we heard you: You want to see what they’re up to now.
Here, an update on what the cast of Coffee Prince has been up to, 2020 edition:
1. Gong Yoo
Our OG oppa has been the talk of the town for his remarkable roles in the 2016 K-drama, Goblin, and the blockbuster film from the same year, Train to Busan. Aside from these, he also starred in the movies like The Silenced, The Suspect, The Age of Shadows, and Kim Ji Young: Born 1982.
Gong Yoo is also loved for his heart of gold. Last month, he donated 100 million won to the Korea Disaster Relief Association to help those who were affected by the heavy rains and flooding. In February, he did the same to support the coronavirus prevention. Plus cutie points!
A *lot* is planned and scheduled for this in-demand actor this year: He will lead the sci-fi horror thriller, The Sea of Silence with Bae Doona and Lee Joon; make a special appearance in Netflix’s Squid Game, and is in talks to join the all-star film, Wonderland, with Jung Yu Mi, Park Bo Gum, and fellow labelmates, Suzy and Choi Woo Shik.
In a recent video uploaded by his management label, Management SOOP, on YouTube, Gong Yoo had fun talking about fishing, how he shopped for a sunbed online, and asked his fellow actor a question about exercising (which he also seems to be doing a lot these days, after saying “my chest got slightly bigger” LOL).
2. Yoon Eun Hye
Trivia time: Did you know that Yoon Eun Hye was a member of the first-gen K-Pop group, Baby V.O.X, before she pursued her career in acting? After becoming a K-Pop idol, she became the lead for Princess Hours, which was followed by Coffee Prince. The baby-faced actress then joined the cast of My Fair Lady, Lie to Me, and Missing You.
Eun Hye’s most recent drama was in 2018 drama Love Alert, her first after five years of being on hiatus. Aside from her current guest appearance on the House Detox, a reality show that transforms celebrity homes, she is busy with her YouTube channel where she shares her daily musings.
3. Lee Sun Gyu
Looks familiar? He is that *gwapo* daddy in the award-winning film, Parasite! His superb acting skills was also shown in the 2019 drama War Prosecutors, where he played the role of Lee Sun Woong. In 2018, he played the lead role in the drama My Mister with K-Pop idol and actress IU. As of present, Lee Sun Gyun is considering casting offers for the film, Silence, with Along with the Gods actor, Joo Ji Hoon, and a Hollywood movie titled Cross with Crash Landing On You’s Son Ye Jin.
4. Lee Jae Wook
We’re keeping our tabs on his upcoming projects, but here’s another trivia: He belongs to the same label as Gong Yoo—which means they probably talk about Coffee Prince when they bump into each other in the hallways, right? No? Okay, maybe it’s just us.
5. Kim Dong Wook
Two years ago, Kim Dong Wook appeared in the exorcism drama The Guest with his fellow Wook and Coffee Prince cast member, Kim Jae Wook. His most memorable role was when he played a soldier in the hit movie, Along with the Gods, alongside Joo Ji Hoon and EXO’s D.O. This year, he was cast in a completely different role as a news anchor in the romantic drama Find Me in Your Memory with Moon Ga Young.
5. Chae Jung An
Just like Yoon Eun Hye, this actress also has her own YouTube vlog! Chae Jung An shares snippets of her life in her vids, and behind the scenes from events. For her dramas, she took the role of a lawyer in the remake of the Japanese drama, Legal High, last year.
